It's not a scam. It would be a scam if people weren't getting their money. Soyo says 16 weeks on the rebate form. They often take longer. But there haven't been that many posts with the claim the rebate never came. Sure you get a couple like the one above but that goes in my trash bin as far as statistics go.

I'm not doing a Soyo deal because it takes too long -- not because it's a scam.

I disagree, CMV, I think the whole Soyo rebate situation was pretty much a scam. In my opinion, Soyo was doing poorly and wanted to sell their business (or at least the motherboard line). They put a number of motherboards on the market under free after rebate, or nearly so, deals. All of sudden Soyo "sells" much more product than they did in the past. This increased revenue flow, and market share, would make them much more appealing to a prospective purchaser, especially if the deal could be set up so that the new owner is not legally liable for the rebates.

That hasn't happened here (yet) because no buyer showed up. Soyo has legal liability for an awful lot of rebates and nearly every "sale" is generating huge losses due to the rebate obligation. Sooner or later this house of cards will collapse.

To those of you still owed rebates from Soyo, I say keep pushing at your efforts to get the rebate but if you do end up getting stung, well you learned a life lesson pretty cheaply. Pyramid schemes can't go on forever.

As I said before. I got both my 50$ and my 64.99$ rebate. People make it into this impossible thing. Dont waste your time with these people, I called and gave them my name and told them what the rebate offer was. They said for me to re-submit , I said I already have and that I was filing with the BBB and the IFCC if the checks arent sent asap. I actually emailed them and said that now that I think about it, and included my name and address-rebate offer and amount. I called once before that. The checks came within two weeks.

I just received 2 Soyo rebates applied for in June. Both mb's (K7VME) are still working. Net cost AR of mb and AXP 2400+ combos was $1.51 each (not including maybe $1 time value of money later recovered in rebates). 7+ months waiting for rebates is not good, but overall this deal was still pretty hot - thanks to AT deal scouts.

Sure, taking 16+ weeks for rebates system suck. But I am pretty sure anyone who bought those FAR Soyo mobos knew that it won't be easy. If you wanted hassle free deal, then you shouldn't have jumped on the deal IMO.

As for the quality of their mobos, they are not the best out in the market but they do run as long as you keep them stock. I certainly don't have any complaints as long as my rebates show up on my mailbox after 16weeks from the postmark dates.

The whole problem I see with Soyo, is the rebate forms say may take up to for the time, while soyo is really not processing until at least that much time has gone by, including the extra time to rebate deadline added on, this is not what the form says and we should all get together and sue them. Of course I also have a seagate rebate at the end of the time and no check right now, and a headlight rebate and a battery rebate, etc, all late, I think this is a new trend in a pi** poor economy to scam consumers into investing in companies with no return on investments for the risk. If they all come it does help since things are so expensive now though, I will be very happy if I ever see any money from soyo.

I, too, purchased a FAR Soyo MB and submitted my paperwork to them knowing that it would be at least 16 weeks before I should get the rebate. After about 22 weeks their website said everything was OK. About 4 weeks later I got my rebate. I never had to contact them. I'm unhappy about the wait time, but when it's a $50 item that is FAR, I'm more forgiving of a company. If it was a $200 item with a $50 MIR, I would want/expect my money in less than 8 weeks.

Hope everyone gets their rebate. Hang in there and if you contact them be firm, but polite.
