Soyo SY-K7ADA (ALi MAGiK 1) good or bad?

There's a deal at outpost.com for a barebones Soyo SY-K7ADA w/ Athlon XP 1700 for $199. Text
It's for a friend who would prefer stability over anything else. It's a really good price IMO, I just can't find and reviews about the chipset or mb.

Can someone point me in the right direction or have experience w/ this board? Also is 300W PS good enough for this system? I figured 350W would be what everybody should be shooting for.

Fry's deals are great if you're on the budget; I'm shopping at their retail stores for about 8 years.
I think it's a nice deal (to built cheap PC); just don't expect too much (general rule with most Fry's deals)...if that motherboard would be a super performer, they wouldn't bundle it in barebone package with boxed Athlon 1700+ for under $200. They are not silly.

thanks for the link Slatz. How does the Ali MaGiK differ from the KT266A chipset? DDR2100, ATA100, 4x AGP are all the essentials. I would prefer a jumperless MB, but I think I've convinced my friend not to overclock so he doesn't have to deal with any of issues associated with it (like fan/heat concerns).

I have the Soyo K7ADA and it is a sweet board, not as good as the dragon, but much less of a hit on the wallet. Just make sure you get the extra front USBs that are supposed to come with it, I didnt .

The extra USB's do not come with the board from factory, they are add ons. The board has the headers you just need to go to your local shop and pick up some adapters is all. The 266 chipset is the best chipset on the market for Athlon CPU's. Any 266 board is going to be superior to the 133. The K7ADA is a great board for your money. The review i supplied is a pretty decent one. The K7VTA Pro is also another great choice for stability and performance and very overclocker friendly if you decide to go that route.
