i just noticed that newegg was out of stock 2 days ago and as of last night it isn't even listed anymore.... I will write sales at newegg to find out why, but it seems odd. hopefully, it's just a computer glitch.... i'd hate to think there was a recall or something.... (i'm such a pessimist!).

Update....

1) LAN is working again. I reset the jumper to clear CMOS. Waited abit, the put the jumper back.
Booted up and low and behold, onboard LAN works again...who knows what caused to to not function

2) Well, the manual said you could put a CD or DVD drive on IDE3/4 but someone in another forum told me not to waist
my time trying, because it wouldn't work. So I moved my burner from Master IDE3 to Slave IDE2 where my DVD is master of IDE2.
They seem to play nicely together and WinXP recognizes the burner now....
which leads to another problem....

3) In setup, hardware devices, I set IDE 2 to Ultra DMA mode if available.
When I do this, it automatically sets IDE2 to PIO mode 2. I never had this problem on my ECS K7S5A board with
DVD and CD burner on IDE2.
Anyone know how to get that IDE channel to Ultra DMA mode?

4) The sigma box with 4 usb ports LAN activity LED does not work.
There is a connection on the back of the Sigma box that is supposed to connect to the Mobo for LAN
activity LED. Well, on the SY-KT333 Dragon Ultra, that connection is missing from the mobo.
It's there on the P4 Dragon Ultra, but they left it out of AMD version.
I've seen other forum members confirm this, and some people talk with Soyo about it.
In the review link I just posted, the reviewer couldn't find the connector on the mobo either.
It would have been nice to have the LED working, but no biggy, as long as the USB ports work,
which they do.

5) I'm still having the problem with WinXP locking on the "Shutting Down Windows" message when
rebooting or shutting down. I haven't figured out the problem yet, but I have alot of info online on
what maybe causing it and possible fixes for it. Haven't got a chance to try the fixes yet.
So when it locks up on rebooting, I hit the reset switch.
When shutting down, press and hold the power button for 4 sec.
.....damn, I hope I get THAT fixed soon.

Hope everyone else's installs are going better than mine!

If I find any other info that's of help, I'll pass along....hope everyone else does the same!

Thanks for the input stephman, I am thinking of getting this board or the Asus333 w/raid. I am leaning toward the asus with the on board firewire right now.

I just got this board (the SOYO) yesterday. Haven't been able to get it to work yet. On bootup I get no message sent to the monitor, then I hear a continuous beep for about 5 seconds and then the board shuts itself down. I have swapped out the Leaktek G4 4400 video card with a known working card (Geforce 2 pro from my old rig), no dice. I removed the mobo from the case to rule out shorting, nothing. I have two 256mb sticks of corsair PC2700 (non-ECC) which I have tried running in various configs (I have no way of directly testing the memory, but 2 sticks of RAM being fubar seems unlikely). I followed the steps in the manual ( I actually did RTFM!) and flashed the bios, still nothing.

I'm kind of at a loss here. I know that the board is supposed to have a CPU fan monitoring thing (I'm just using a panaflo on top of the AX-7, which does not support monitoring), but my understanding was that you could disable that in the bios by pressing insert as soon as the machine starts to boot. I would get a signal to the monitor at any rate, no?

Anyway, any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Had a similar problem with a friends Soyo Dragon (not Plus). Figured out the CPU fan wasn't connected to the right connector, you might want to check that first, if there wasn't a fan connected to CPU connector on that board, the board wouldn't fire up. Do you have the panaflow hooked up directly to a lead on the PS or on the MB?

I have the panaflo hooked to the #1 CPU fan header. It might not be able to sense it though as it is only a 'two-wire' fan instead of the three wire. I thought I could disable that FOS function though.

All the stuff I read on Soyo's website indicated a memory problem. Either not seated correctly, non-functional, or not compatible. I'm kind of ruling out non-functional as I have two seperate sticks and have tried both independently. That somewhat rules out not seated correctly either. As many times as I have taken them in and out you would have thought I would have gotten lucky if nothing else. Which leaves a compatibility issue (maybe). Anyone know if Corsiar and Soyo don't mix?

> 5) I'm still having the problem with WinXP locking on the "Shutting Down Windows" message when

Just got my board set up a few days ago and I had the same problem with XP hanging on the shutdown. I went through the process of selectively reinstalling drivers and the problem looks like it's the USB 2.0 driver. I was able to bypas the shutdown probelm by disableing usb from the device manager. Hopefully someone will figure out another way to solve this problem or they will release a new driver.

Other than that glitch my systems been running like a champ. I'll start pushing the OC boundries in the next day or two.

When Windows XP won?t powerdown automatically, the APM/NT Legacy Power Node may not be enabled.

To enable this, right-click on the My Computer icon, click Properties | Hardware | Device Manager | View. Check the box labeled ?Show Hidden Devices.? If it?s available on your computer, there will be a red X on the APM/NT Legacy Node. Try enabling it and see if this resolves the powerdown problem.

Let me know if this worked for you ... thanks.

Actually Newegg was carrying the board (AMD) version. That is where I got mine from. I notice they have pulled the Soyo Dragon Ultra (KT333) though, and I just got mine delivered Friday. Usually if they run out of stock they just post a note to that effect, they don't pull the listing...Maybe I'm just bitter and reading too much into it though.

Anyway, I still can't get my board to output video. I ran over to a local store and picked up a MSI KT333 board, everything works fine. (I had tested everything but the memory, no DDR motherboard in house previously). Anyway, I'm kind of bummed because the Soyo has a much better feature set imo, but the MSI works which is a big plus. So I guess it is RMA time. :-(

On the upside, I get to experience some Geforce 4 graphics action when I get out of work today.

Well.. like I said.. I had major quality control problems with my SOYO boards. And I personally will never buy from them again. My time is too valuable to waiste on pulling parts and RMA'ing. I had problems on (2) SOYO's in a row. First the NIC's went out within a few month's, and the last MB died completely after a month or so. Spose it might be different if they sent me replacements that worked and at no cost to me.

Anyone having "power down" problems... should use my post above. It will almost always resolve the problem.

fyi: new bios for this board came out on 4/24. maybe that'll help some of you...

BIOS here

btw, i got mine on friday. i have to wait to set it up on thursday though b/c i don't have a case yet. hopefully i'll have something positive to report.

oh, btw, still no word from newegg on why it's not on their site any longer. I do wonder if it has anything to do with the Soyo press release that officially announces the board that came out this morning...

(1) I heard back from newegg -- the sales person responded with this:

<< I am sorry but I couldn't begin to tell you why it is no longer on our website it could be a simple mistake or we might not be able to get any right now. At any rate we will honor all warranties. >>

(2) there are a few links to reviews (generally positive -- yay) over at amdmb.com, in case you haven't checked that site for a week or so.

>(2) there are a few links to reviews (generally positive -- yay)

The problem with this is that review sites are becoming more and more biased to the products they get. Some sites will give good reviews no matter what junk they get and not *find* any problems with what they are given, failure to give a good review and they will never see another product from the company again. It's called PR.

The only true reviews come from users who have no finacial gains from their review. that's why I'd trust users here more than any review sites.

That is true, but you have to watch out for the tendency of unhappy people (people having trouble with the product) to be more vocal. For example, I would have never posted to this thread unless I was having trouble.

BTW, I'm not trying to slam SOYO or anything, I have been happy with several of their boards in the past. I was just wondering if I had a common problem that someone could say,'Oh yeah, do <blank>.' Apparently not. The manual and SOYO tech support didn't come up with anything either.

I just got my new system up and running. Working great now with Win2K. During installation I came across a small problem unrelated to the mb. I'm using an Enermax 80mm adjustable fan for the CPU and if I turn the rpms down to about 2600 the signal becomes intermittent and the board won't boot. The same 5 second beep then shut down. Turn up the fan and it boots fine. In the bios on the PC health screen you can see the rpm signal come and go if you turn the fan down too low. Is this common with slower speed fans?

Anyways, after about 3 hours of running my new board it's still working fine. We'll see how it does in the long run.

I also ust put everything together with win2k last night and it's all running smoothly. it's great. only thing is, the boot up time really is long -- i didn't think it would take longer than my old pc (p3-600mhz / win98se), but i think it does. other than that, i'm very happy so far.

you probably need to turn off fan monitoring. also baneonrt and whatever3 are you using the onboard lan ?

Yes, I'm using the onboard lan. When I first set the system up I had Win2K and no setup was required. Same story with XP Pro that I'm using now.

And yes, I turned off the fan monitoring. Although if I adjust the fan for higher rpms then the signal becomes steady and there are no problems but noise.
