After taking out my heatsink and fan from my AMD cpu and cleaning it thoroughly, I put it back onto the CPU the wrong way, and when I turned on my comp, it turned off like 2 seconds later with a long beep. After fiddling with it for a while and clearing my CMOS by shorting JP5 (since I thought my CMOS settings were changed for some reason), I finally figured out my computer wouldn't boot because I put my heatsink on the wrong way. When I was messing with JP5, I was getting a little careless and I don't think I followed the manuals instructions perfectly. Anyway, after I put my heatsink on the correct way, my computer turned on completely, but now, it stays on and just beeps. I tried shorting JP5 correctly a hundred times, but I still get the same beeping when the computer turns on and nothing basically happens. I also got really pissed and pulled out the jumper a few times while the system was on (and even changed it), which resulted in it turning off (I know, I shouldn't have done that). My monitor doesn't even come on.
Anyone know what this could be? Could clearing my CMOS "incorrectly" or carelessly one time permanently mess up the CMOS, even though I shorted it correctly the next few times around?
