SP2 Uninstall extremely slow.

I decided to try service pack 2 on my laptop, and guess what... It killed it. Couldn't even boot up. So I started uninstalling it via the recovery console. I completed the first half fine, batching the spuninst.txt in the ntservicepackuninstall folder. When I rebooted and got back into widows though, everything was running EXTREMELY slow. Now i'm running the spunint.exe within windows, and it's basically at a standstill. I dare say it's been at 'Inspecting Current Configuration' for about 15 minutes now. I'm pretty sure it's working, but I don't have 4 days to wait for this blasted thing. Anyone have any tips?

Unfortunately I can't help you here. I've seen every aspect of SP2, from working flawlessly to BSOD, and like you have seen XP run extremely slowly after uninstalling it.
I don't know why, its seems to act up on some machines and work fine on others.
The only way I could recommend updating to SP2 is either doing a clean slipstreamed install, or making a complete backup of your system partion before installing. IE:making a ghost image of it.
You could try running a repair from the XP CD and see if that fixes it, but thats about all I can suggest.

I took a giant leap when I installed SP2 on a tablet pc... The thing has no drives, making it hard to reinstall anything if necessary...

You too eh? (My primany is the Toshiba sans drive). Then again, we get more benefit out of SP2 then most other users, so it's even more worth it

Since you are within windows, just system restore to before you installed the SP.

Does this work? I thought SP2 install wiped system restore points?
