Sp3 and no sound!

Hello everyone. I need your help. I have just installed a windows xp sp3 and I have no sound. Realtek audio drivers for ac'97 dont work, they just dont produce any frikin sound. Hwen im trying to install ASUS audio drivers ( Soundmax) for my motherboard(m2mpv-vm) there appears a windows which says: " hahahaha im a retarded machina and i wont allow you to watch moovies with sound and listen to music..." no it doesnt say so.
It says: " The audio files do not support you computer hardware. If you uninstalled your audio software and didnt reboot, reboot pc and then try again. "

What I did? I uninstalled realtek, than rebooted and did it like 3-4 times. But what I see is this.
I tried via ac'97 driver from my old pc, but for sure, it didnt work.

Is there a way to fix the sound, or should i crush my stupid retarded brainless machine with my baseball bat?

p.s sorry it's jsut emotions, I just hate when i cant do what i want cuz of some brainless piece of metal

Did you get the drivers from the ASUS site?

I'm a little confused, did you say you tried to install VIA audio drivers?

uninstall all sound card related software, run CCleaner using it's registry option multiple time till it can do 100% without a error, reboot, and reinstall the proper sound drivers from the motherboard manufacturer, verify the make, model, and version of the motherboard before proceeding.

Thanks everyone! I did what you suggested, robisbell, ran registry cleaner like 4-5 times and there were no errors shown, before that i deleted realtek drivers. Then i did a reboot, but still the same window appears "The audio files do not support you computer hardware. If you uninstalled your audio software and didnt reboot, reboot pc and then try again." Divx isnt an audio related driver is it? Is there maybe a driver pack, which includes these audio drivers. Otherwise im out of sound "((?

divx is a video codec...try what robisbell suggested again but right before you reboot, uninstall the sound card from device manager so the computer will detect new hardware upon the reboot

try reinstalling the device drivers now and cancel anything that xp trys to install that would be generic

I had the same problem. The issue is Microsoft forgot to bundle something with SP3. Follow these directions and you should be good to go. I ended up downloading new drivers from my MB manufactures site rather then using the ones he links, but I followed the other directions to a T.

we're glad to be of assistance. odd that a RC1 bug which from the buglist was fixed showed up on your machine with the full release version of SP3.
