SP3 RTM?

I saw build 5xxx online and thought to myself it must be fake (dated mar 6th) and I came across this

Your lin k is only to the overview documents - the actual SP3 is over 300 MB to download. It has not gone RTM yet.

SP3 RTM?
Yes. yes. It's here! The link that larciel posted was based on typical corporate flack, it seems.

Heck. I thought the horn blowing yesterday was a Mexican wedding. Must have been about XP SP3 Release-To-Manufacturing.

Anyway, it will be nice to do an install without then essentially replacing the install with 300 MB of updates.

Current schedule for XP SP3 RTM is mid to late April 2008. I am running the latest RC - 2 I believe. Works fine - I like it.

Build 5503 is a real one (as acknowledged by Microsoft) I upgraded it from the previous build and it's working like a charm, it no longer shows the build number on the system properties window so this could very be the one, Microsoft will just never accept it though.

Gotcha. I haven't heard that there is one, but that doesn't mean that there isn't one either.

If you installed your pre-release version of SP3 via upgrade (i.e., overlaid on top of XPSP2) I think you should be fine. No timebomb to my knowledge.

However, if you had installed a "slipstream" XPSP3 pre-RTM build from a bootable DVD or CD, then you would be subject to a 180-day timebomb I believe.

If you read this carefully, you will see the words "time-limited" (emphasis added by me).

While this update is available for anyone, remember that it is pre-release software, is time-limited, and is intended for IT professionals, developers, and other technically-inclined individuals that are comfortable using pre-release software.
