Right at the half-way point of the vid it looked like you could see the trail left by the shuttle at launch. It's only there for a few seconds.

Ok, so re-entry was the wrong term, i thought they burned up in the atmosphere from the extreme friction/heat.

It is impossible to generate enough heat to burn up while still in the atmosphere because you cannot go fast enough on gravity alone, see terminal velocity.

Nice vid but what a rip-off! SRBs are what? Aluminium cans that hold solid rocket fuel? I bet you anything that it costs more to recover the damned things in the middle of the ocean (boat, fuel for boat, crew, crew salaries, etc.) than it does to build two SRBs!

There is a video somewhere of a free fall from 3000ft or something. It was really cool to watch since it's from start to finish. And by finish I mean hit the ground going 200MPH.
