Galactic Civ 3 is what I'm looking forward to. Tried Sins of a Solar Empire but wasn't a fan.

Just on the off chance that you are a fan of Star Trek? If so, would recommend the Star Trek Armada 3 mod for Sins. That mod alone turned 12 hours of base gameplay to over 100 for me.

While I enjoy watching ST, I'm not that into the different ships and such.

What? No love for Independence War 2? Besides Freespace 3, IWAR 3 should be the next one made.

I.LOVE.IWar (1 & 2). I still have the CDs for them both (got the version with the massive expansion pack for IWar 1; Defiance right?). So much love for those games.

Should be Distant Worlds: Universe. I need to check it out some time, looks fun, and I'm all for the AI assistance so I can focus on macro rather than micro.

Have not seen any space game that takes my fancy beyond the rather STO-styled Starpoint Gemini 2.

Elite scares me from the nostalgia perspective and SC? Didn't think the project sounded that great before it started raising funds and it does not entice me one single iota.

Yeah, I can't wait on many of these (well I can, but am really excited). I also can't wait for Occulus Rift to release a retail product (once the fix some of the issues that have come up in their test versions, especially the lack of being able to see keyboard/controls that you might be using).

whoa that sounds good - do you need all the expansions for Sins to run it?

I bought Sins when it was on a full package sale, so I got the DLC with it. That said, I am pretty sure you only need the base Sins game for the mod to work.

They currently have Romulan, Klingon, Federation and Borg factions in the mod. They are currently doing a major revamp of the mod, which includes tweaking those existing factions and also adding Cardassian and Dominion factions.
