Recently I found an interesting article and I wanna share it with you and hear your thoughts about that project. The world`s first space hotel is slated to open in 2027 . Orbital Assembly Corporation, the group behind Voyager Station, has announced plans to begin building the hotel in low Earth orbit in 2025. The hotel will be able to accomodate 400 people and it will have a cinema, gyms, health spa, reastaurants, libraries and more stuff

Looks like cartoon to me.

400 people in a space hotel? How many people/foods/water a space shuttle can transport at one time?

What happens when people get sick?

And how many rich people have to join or pay/subscribe to the plan to make the project sustainable?

very good point, are there 50 space shuttles on hand to transport or do you just sign a waiver saying you might not get to leave.. perhaps a spacesuit that will withstand the re-entry of earth with a parachute for each person. it does sound SUPER COOl. not sure how long i would like to stay up there but soon as no one depends on me i can gamble with that kinda thing

I can see it being a thing eventually but it would only really be accessible to millionaires. Basically it would be like the ISS but geared towards entertainment/luxery purposes and be bigger. I think the key to making this work is if they can achieve a way to make a SSTO rocket/space plane as that would be more economical. Given the amount of people that would have the money to do this, the stays would probably be fairly long like a month or so and it would probably be something that is done like twice a year.

Even today, if you have the money you can actually hitch a ride on a Soyuz and go to the ISS. I forget how much it costs, like 20mil I think. You need to go to Russia for training though. I guess mostly physical training to make sure you can handle the whole process as well as handle any emergency situation.

It's definitely on my bucket list if ever I become a multi millionaire.

Actually, this concept seems to me rather interesting. But there are some scientific problems that are needed to be solved before this project starts building. Also, as for me I don`t see any necessity of this space hotel. Just imagine how much it would cost to build it. I assume we have more important stuff in space exploration. ( not taking into consideration issues we have on Earth )

In addition to my answer above, I wanna say that I am not the specialist in the area of building such things but still I assume that it`s rather expensive thing to build and as for me it`s completely needless and useless. On the Earth`s orbit we already have a lot of space junk which became the issue for space companies.

Hey, that's a piece of amazing news. Wonder when we gonna get oxygen??

Yeah, thats a good point. I guess even the makers of the space hotel don`t know it yet. There are a lot of issues like that in the project of space hotel. All these isues make the building of that projects impossible.

I imagine they bring up compressed oxygen when they do a launch to make up for anything lost through air lock etc. I think that's what they do for the ISS. Ideally you probably want nitrogen and other gases to try to simulate regular air, or maybe that does not really matter? I think our bodies only need the oxygen.

There would most likely be CO2 converters to convert CO2 back to oxygen as well.

The project of space hotel still has a lot of issues that must be solved before this project even starts building. For example, artifacial gravity. It must be invented and developed enough for this space project

I think we'll see construction for resource extraction before hotels start popping up. Unlikely in my lifetime.
Probably you are right. However, if we are talking about resource extraction on Mars or Moon, it will cause some conflicts between some leading countries of Earth.

I'm kind of curious about whether the first colonists/workers will represent the various countries or large multi-national corporations. I wouldn't mind going out there, but I'm too old now - doubt I could pass the physical, maybe 40 years ago.

I still want to know why they use rockets to get to the current space stations. They can probably save a lot of money just by lowering a rope ladder and having the astronauts climb up.

Space elevator ftw. Unless we actually sort out fusion and have all the nergy we need.

I guess it will not happen soon. Not even in that century I think. Our technology is too weak and for an achievement like this we need a real scientific breakthrough and a lot of time
