Sure a few characters need to die, but they just killed off six major characters. That's a bit of overkill.

Historically, Varinius and Oenomaus should have died after Glaber.

I was kinda surprised they killed Oenomaus off and was expecting them to at least kill off Agronas he seemed kinda pointless with the group of 4 they had going of Spartacus / Oenomaus / Gannicus / Crixus.

If you remember though, first season they killed off tons of lead characters. I was disappointed they killed off Oenomaus, but knew it was coming. I'm not certain that Illithia is actually dead....they could pull that card like they did with Lucretia..but I don't know that they'd want to do that.

I thought this season was cool when they brought Gannicus into the picture and had the 4 together (Oenomaus, Gannicus, Crixis, Spartacus).

I do not think Gannicus is completely sold on what Spartacus' next move is..I have a feeling he may be one of the antagonists next season.

I watched a few of the "SDCC" Spartacus videos on YouTube. All the guys look tiny there. Even Gannicus sitting there in a T-Shirt with no beard, his arms look like they are maybe 15" "guns" if that. Manu said he shredded "18 kilos" between BAS and GOTA. I think he said he was somewhere in the middle of that for Vengence.

Anyway, I'm sad that Ashur got killed, especially the way it happened. I mean I guess he could have gotten totally arrogant and let his guard down, but still. Ashur was always mouthing off though, even to the end. I like when Glaber calls his mercs out and they turn on him....Ashur is like "You f'ing runts!"

Not surprised Oenemeus got killed. The way they've been playing him the last few seasons, it was time for him to go. He was broken down, injured, and physically and emotionally drained it appeared. Of course, it is a show so they could have just wrote him back into an elite killing machine.

I was surprised how few on the good guy minor characters died in the "battle". I figured Agron, Tiberius, a few of the unknown gladiators, and especially Donar. I mean Donar was the only one left from Batiatus if I remember right, I figured they killed him off.

It was pretty awesome how Spartacus finally ended Glaber. Piercing a man's heart by way of his mouth and neck is pretty badass!

Not surprised about Mira at all. It's sad b/c she was more badass, a better actress, and hotter than Navea.

I'm glad Lucretia and Illythia are both dead. I actually assumed Illythia just passed out, but the writers say she died. There are really no villans to carry over into the next season. Maybe they'll got a totally different directions.

Last fun fact....was this the only episode is Spartacus history that didn't have tits, ass, or weiner in it?

was sad to see Nera (spelling?) die cause she was so fucking hot. was also sad to see asher and animeus die too, i liked their characters.

Another great season! I just finished watching the last episode tonight. This show is just pure awesome entertainment. Episode 5 was the best, even with the poor CGI when they brought the arena down. Some straight up asskickery with all the legends from previous seasons.

Can't wait for the next season!

Ya, I figured they would kill him off, but I was secretly hoping he be around next season. His character was awesome. The thing I like about this show is that you can actually see why some of the villains are they way they are and what made them.

Ashur was always looked down upon and considered worthless, especially by other gladiators
Lucretia (in this season at least) was just plain crazy b/c of what happened to her house and her baby
Glaber was being screwed over by another Praetor, his wife, and his father in law
Illythia...well she doesn't have a reason, she is just a plain old bitch and I'm glad she died.

I think she was thinner this season which exaggerated her features. Boobs didn't look as good either, but she's still better than anything I'll ever get!

I finally managed to finish this up last night from the DVR. Great, great series. A lot of stuff is over the top but the shining success of the series is the character development. They really do a great job of giving depth to the characters and everyone is very well acted and believable.

I loved the arc of Glabber over the season of how he was brought to a low point and responded to be ruthless and determined. Great bad guy to root against. Same for Asher over the course of all seasons, on the cusp of realizing what he has wanted all along, only to fall at the hands of a woman. He was always low on the totem pole, an over-achiever, something he ultimately wasn't able to overcome, however close.

I loved the up-and-down with Gannicus, you could tell his character struggled with his decisions until greed and power from Glabber put him permanently on Spartacus' side.

I was really surprised they killed off so many on the last episode, but I don't know the "real life" story of Spartacus either. The turn of Batiatus' wife (can never remember her name) in the end was pretty surprising, she just went nuts. I had assumed Ilythia had survived until I read above where someone stated a producer said she was dead.

In the end, when the series first started, I hated Crixus. I think he's my favorite character now.

I love and hate Spartacus at the same time. I love it because unlike other shows, it doesn't dawdle around and gives you a ton of content every episode. I was watching the premiere tonight, and I literally sat there thinking that the show was going to end really soon. However, when I paused it to go grab a drink, I realized that I was only 2/3 of the way through the show! Although, anyone that's seen Spartacus isn't really surprised by this. So, what's there to hate? Well, it damn near spoils me, which makes me get annoyed with any other show that I watch! :|

What probably impressed me the most were the interesting yet seemingly seamless cuts between Crassus vs. gladiator-guy and Spartacus vs. the Romans. The only negative thing that I can really say is that I'm kind of torn. In the past seasons, Batiatus and Glaber really came across as giant douches, and subsequently, that made them easy to hate. However, Crassus doesn't really come across that way at all so far. I actually like the character. While he is a bit scheming, he doesn't have the need to remove cock head from ass compared to all of the other pompous Romans in the show. It was amusing watching him put his son in his place numerous times throughout the episode.

Spartacus can always be counted on to replace the hot naked women who have left the show or been killed off with new hot naked women. That's a good thing.

I REALLY wish they'd lose the fascination with slow-motion beheadings accompanied by a spray of cranberry juice. If you're going to make it that slow and that closeup at least invest in more realistic looking blood.

It's CGI. While they use too much, I don't think it looks that bad.

TV shows with bigger budgets are using red corn syrup, and that just doesn't flow right at all. You see long thin sticky strands, that just look too viscous to be blood.
