Spartacus: Unbelievably Violent and Pornographic!

I REALLY wish they'd lose the fascination with slow-motion beheadings accompanied by a spray of cranberry juice. If you're going to make it that slow and that closeup at least invest in more realistic looking blood.

I watched this 15 minute special that they had on before Spartacus, and the people behind the show said that they make it look a bit more fake on purpose. I forget exactly why they do it, but I don't recall it being a cost reason. I think it was to sort of dull down the excessive violence of the show by making it seem more unrealistic.

Holy Crap what a lot of blood in this episode....lol. If you didn't like the blood in previous episodes you'll hate this one. It's like every time a guy gets cut his body is loading with such high blood pressure it spurts out like a fountain. I thought it was a good episode. Much better than some of the other season openers.

Oh, and I understand their "style" now with too much blood and beheadings. It's almost like a graphic novel at this point not a "real life" type of show. I don't think Spartacus could behead 2 people at the same time with only 1 hand and 2 quick swipes each.

I will miss Batiatus though...not Lucretia or Illythia though, those bitches were annoying. I will also miss the training and battles in the arena. This has turned from a Gladiator type movie into a war type movie. Seasons 1 and 2 were epic. I'll still watch this season though. Curious if any of the gladiators live at the end.

While the other leaders died, it's not certain what happened to Spartacus. They say he was killed in battle, but his body was never found.

Why happened to Spartacus? Well in the final scene, Kirk Douglas (the original Spartacus) is crucified along with all the other gladiators while his wife and child ride by leaving Rome in secret. Then Michael Douglas (Spartacus Jr.) became a big star in his own right and married a hottie.

It looks like Laurus won't be getting any more face time and will also never be the head of a major ludus again.

It also looks like Spartacus may have found a new lady. The meek and compassionate redhead that was the wife of the guy who he just shoved a spear in his mouth. Either that or she'll die next episode....or both.

And what was Ceasar's woman doing under that tunic??

They are keeping it accurate. This is the last season, after all...

Except to my knowledge, there is no evidence that Caesar ever dealt with Spartacus or fought the slave/gladiator army. The producers of Spartacus consulted historians and they did say it was possible, and perhaps even likely, that Caesar fought with Crassus against Spartacus but there was no hard evidence.
