Show will be missed, but got a deserved ended. Yeah seeing Gannicus go out like that was rough. He was one of my favs in the show. Least he got some sweet poon before going out.
I saw an article about a week ago that Starz is considering a spinoff focusing on Ceaser after he goes back to Rome.
They should have a fictional season 25 years down the road called "Seed of Spartacus". A 1/2 roman 1/2 gladiator baddass born of Laeta whose best friend is Son of Gannicus and Sibyl. Agron has taught them the history and the ways of fighting. He was the new Doctore.
Now we need another roman era style show so we can keep up with the Jupiter's cock quotes.
And with how quickly he concended to Pompei, it's almost like after the sword fight and all, he basically was willing to admit Spartacus bested him. It's like he felt honor in it after having actually faced him.
Good episode, fitting end to Crixus. However, what the fuck was up with the Caesar rape scene? Is that based on anything historically?
We constantly need more stimulation because whatever that thing is, be it food, alcohol, drugs, entertainment, pleasures, get boring and repetitive. We want more forms of violence that are more graphic. It's all about more and more and more and more. Just one of the symptoms of a world that is destroying itself. By world I mean people. Unfortunately, we are damaging the earth along the way as well.
Speaking of violence in movies, I think if they want to portray violence, why not do it in a bit more subtle way? Do we need to view every single angle? I guess they would rather shock us rather than create something that has a bit of depth. My friend told me a couple of years ago about the violence and sex in Spartacus so I was aware of that. Maybe if the sex and violence isn't obvious enough, the attention to the shows might be less. Do what you can to draw in viewers. (Not criticizing Spartacus since I've not seen it).

I never got into Spartacus. The weird cartoon graphical action scenes put me off. Rome is much better.
only saw the most recent, and last episode (think I saw first and last episodes of this season), and if this is Caesar Tiberius that you are referring to, then, uh...Oh my, yes!
...

Wrong interpretation. A lot of that was fairly true to history, Crassus is the guy that really beat down the servile rebellion and Pompey really did steal the credit for it. Pompey was incredibly rich and powerful and the way politics worked in Rome back then you pretty much needed a patron to advance. Crassus allowed Pompey to claim the credit because that created an obligation for Pompey to help Crassus further himself. They even alluded to that in the dialog. And it worked, Crassus, Pompey and Julius Caesar formed the first Triumvirate of Rome and Crassus became one of the richest people in history. And then when Crassus died Caesar and Pompey went to war and Caesar kicked his ass, so Pompey got what was coming to him.
Additionally, Crassus was essentially "expected" to beat the slaves, while Pompey had just returned from (dubious) victories in Hispania. Crassus was honored with an Ovation vs Pompey's Triumph. Crassus's glory was totally overshadowed by Pompey's.
He's talking about Tiberius Crassus, Marcus Crassus's fictional son in the show, who ended up raping Gaius Julius Caesar.
A show following the Caesars through Nero would be fascinating though.
I think they tried to make it "realistic" but over the top gore and blood at first. Then they realized it wasn't realistic and decided to go "300 style" graphic novel blood and violence and slow mo action scenes. I thought it was great as long as you don't try to think of it as realistic. It was supposed to be that style. We know it isn't realistic to jump 6 feet in the air, slash down on a guys throat and have blood literally spray out like a garden hose 12 feet out. But it's fun!
...so someone was asking if a fictional character raping Gaius Julius in this show was historically accurate?
:hmm:
