Anyways I got some Logitech Z-2300 speakers for christmas and I was just wondering if the setup is fine. I have a pretty ghetto desk and it doesnt have an open back. So I have the cords that plug into the sub running under the desk being squished. The cable thats connected to the remote is ran up the side not being squished. I was just wondering if there is any harm to the cords. Ive got a small lamp, a Samsung 793MB CRt screen and a cd rack and the satelites on the desk. And the desk rarely moves.

Thanks

So your desk is on top of the cords? In general that would probably be a bad idea if there's the weight of your desk and monitor on the cord.

Is that's what's happening?

(A pic would help)

If that's the case, it would be a quick fix to put something else under there to take the weight.. like a book or some cardboard or something so the weight is supported by that and not the cord.

Potentially over time it'll break the copper wiring.

Copper's not all that strong, wrapping it up in circles, or putting something on it, over time will probably break it.

Even if the desk doesn't move, or seem to be moving, it's weight shifts intermittently. The simple act of leaning on it for a few moments shifts it's weight back and forth. Cat on it, minor earthquakes, depending on where it's at even a big truck or a train'll shift it slightly. Someone with huge speakers driving past'll vibrate it.

Over time it'll add up, and wiring may fracture. Wires are best left without anything on them, if they are wrapped, wrapped only once and secured, and free from frequent tugging.

I used to go through a walkman headset a week because the wiring would fracture, speaker cable's usually better quality, but in the end it's still only a small filament of wire that breaks when bent back and forth several times.
