Hello all. I just finished setting up my new computer and loving it. Running 64-bit system. When i hooked up my logitech Z-5300's i noticed a very loud humming niose. At first i thought i was some settings, but everything i tried failed. the only thing i can think of is not having a sound card (duh), but i want to be sure that that is the reason for this noise before i spend some good money on a good card.

This indicates system noise is getting on to the sound card for some reason. There is a good chance the onboard sound solution isn't well isolated on your board, and the only solution may be to get a sound card.

The only other workaround I could think of would be to turn down the volume on your system as low as possible and turn the volume up on the speakers. See if this at least gets rid of the humming, or makes it less noticible.

My Z5300s were happy on the onboard solution on my Shuttle, and also the Audigy 2 ZS that I bought.

Make sure you have all options available in the Volume Control. One of 'em probably isn't muted.

fixed my speakers. for some reason, when the mic is on in the volume control, it pics up noice, prolly an internal mic or something. then, to fix the right rear speaker, i had to turn on matrix mode, i guess that is the 5.1 mode they have
