Looks hot, and is hot for uber U2 fans, but for those not all up in U2's jock, the price leaves much to be desired.

The photo one is also bad azz, where as the price is just azz.

no, that you have to pay $150 for, but the U2 iPod includes a $50 coupon for it. So if you want the U2 400 songs collection, the final cost is the same as the regular 20 Gig white iPod + the collection.

The U2 Ipod looks pretty nice, you'll at least be the unique one out there in the sea of blank white ipods. (Only the diehard fans would pay that much )

The Ipod Photo looks really interesting, but I was curious if there are any reviews on it. I'm interested in the display's quality and the battery life with the display cycling through pictures and such.

While I know this is standard for "small LCDs" (like on your cell phone), you guys should know the iPod Photo has only a 16-bit color display (65535 colors). So that automatically makes it crap. 16-bit color is fine for your cell phone or PDA, but this is a dedicated photo viewer, it should have 32-bit color. Your photo will always be downgraded when displayed on it.

Interestingly, 40GB & 60GB photo iPods are rated at 15 hrs for music (5 hrs for pics). 20GB & 40GB standard iPods are rated at 12 hrs for music. The 40GB photo iPod is thicker than the 40GB standard iPod. The photo iPod's battery takes longer to charge. Obviously, photo iPods have larger batteries.

The person it's for is a huge U2 fan. She always thought the ipod was silly... until the U2 version. Now she's smitten with it. I figure the entire U2 back catalog is worth much more than $50, so that's how I justitifed the extra cost.

I'm not sure about the quality of the Ipod screen, but the digital images that get stored are shrunk down and converted anyways. I doubt the quality is good. People who are into photography and want storage should get something else.

Their back catalog ISN'T $50, it's $150. You get a $50 coupon with the U2 iPod.

I was checking one of these out and Best Buy the other day and the with the black case your really notice how the outer plastic gets scratched up, much more than with the white iPod.
