I've decided to upgrade my monitor when I move to college this fall, and since I didn't find out about the SGI deal until today (too late, unfortunately), the Dell branded 17.4" Planar seems to be my best choice. Basically, I'm looking for something with >= 17 inches of viewable space, in as small a footprint as possible, for around or under $800.
The main entertainment uses of this PC will be watching DVDs and playing EverQuest, Diablo II, and FPS's. Any specific information that owners of this device could give me would be highly appreciated--if it makes a difference, I'll be using a GeForce 3 to power it, preferrably in digital mode (although I read a post from someone saying his games would only scale resolutions in Analog, so I'll switch if I have to.)
The main work uses of this monitor will be typing and programming, so I doubt there will be any display issues there.
And please, no posts saying wait for IBM's flat CRT's--I doubt we'll see consumer versions of those for several months, and hell, I'm too anxious for a nice roomy monitor If anyone can recommend a 19" CRT with a small-ish footprint, that'd be highly appreciated too.

1) How's EQ look? CS? D2? DVDs?
2) Are there any viable alternatives given my two requirements?
