All die sizes are within 5mm^2. The poster here has been right on some things in the past afaik, and to his credit was the first to saying 505mm^2 for Navi21, which other people have backed up. Even still though, take the following with a pich of salt.

Navi21 - 505mm^2

Navi22 - 340mm^2

Navi23 - 240mm^2

So we got zero new info, great. So they will announce It at the end of October and the cards will be released maybe in November.

Any info is better then no news at all.

Well it did almost make me a fortune teller. That's got to count for something. /s

I'll guess annonced 9/9 with 9 total skus split between cpu/gpu. Available 10/10 with a 10th hail mary jaw dropper sku....lol

An what new info did you get? Announcement of the event for RDNA2 isn't worth much and you still need to wait 7 weeks to know some worthy info about RDNA2 and the reviews will come even later most likely.

I suspect that once Ampere reviews drop we'll start seeing some AMD leaks come out. Sure they could drip something out ahead of NVidia's launch, but if they have actual hardware to run they can figure out the best games or benchmarks for their own cards and let those leak out.

Depending on the exact launch dates we'll eventually get leaks anyway, just as we saw with Ampere, but the first ones are more likely to be controlled and if you're going to do controlled leaks then it's best to have as much solid information as possible.

I would imagine Sony also prices at $500. I can't see them doing $400 and anything in between feels both odd and like an admission that they have an inferior product. I also wouldn't put too much stock into how that affects AMD's pricing either though. Both MS and Sony get a cut of every game sold and can sell their hardware at cost or even a small loss. AMD doesn't have that option.

Recent history suggests AMD will move to match NVidia's price points while offering a slight advantage in terms of raw performance per dollar even if it isn't a significant one. If they have a 3080 competitor don't expect it to cost less than $600 and if it has even a 5% lead over the 3080 it's going to be at least $700.

We might even end up with a weird stratified match up where AMD targets the $400, $600, and $800 price points where NVidia doesn't have any products.

Who knows what rumors concerning crypto mining efficiency of new cards could do. Mining could certainly flare up like a bad case of herpes and throw everything out the window.

Zen 3 and RDNA2 getting their own launches is extremely interesting to me.

They're not relying on Zen 3 hype to fuel RDNA2 hype. They seem fully confident they have something quite appealing to show off.

Silent confidence is the best kind of confidence
Or they know that they have something quite appalling to show and they don't want to ruin the Zen 3 release with mediocrity. /S

One can interpret that any way they want but the real reason is likely that it would have been just too early. It's likely not even a launch but at least we will know more then.

Since we know that GPUs will be the first RDNA2 based products it's not unlikely that the actual launch will be on the 28th. Not that much left after until November 10th.

Lisa had promised RDNA 2 for before the new consoles, so now that Microsoft confirmed that their new hardware will be on sale November 10 they had to announce the date, just two weeks before.
Still a month and a half away!

Well TSMC's supply being tight is not today's news, and AMD must divide it between ZEN3 (with higher margins), Renoir (good margins) and GPUs (lower margins). Probably with the start of new year we will see more availability.

- I, personally, really needed *something* from AMD. I now have a date to look forward to additional verified info and/or an actual launch.

Their silence after the NV reveal, including leaks, was a bit deafening.

I am on my "AMD" upgrade cycle and have no issues sitting on my 980ti so long as I know how long I'll be waiting.

They never promised anything, they are still on time.
Nvidia also made "an announcement for the announcement", was that bad too?

Or they don't want RDNA2 to sour Zen 3 success.

It really looks like the dates are the actual product release dates, not a date where they will give more information. But I could easily be wrong, it just doesn't seem like those dates are for anything but release dates based on this tweet.
I think we'll get a paper launch on those dates with the actual product launch date being sometime afterwards.

No one can afford to wait to build supply these days - once you have product, you ship it.

From Frank Azor's post I expected more than just an announcement of the date for RDNA2 event and Nvidia didn't make such a misleading post(I think) before they announced when they will show Ampere and they were first to show and release their next gen.

edit: when I say I expected more, I meant some preview of the architecture.

Expecting the top end, call it the 6700 XT I suppose, to land about 10% behind the 3080 and be priced at either $549 or $599. I expect the step down 6700 to trade blows with the 3070, perhaps edge it out at $449.

Most interesting to me would be a potential 6600 XT at 2080S performance levels for $299-$349, or even a 3060 Ti at that same price point.

What I think may surprise people is that AMD will either tie or actually take the lead in power efficiency. It all depends on how aggressive AMD is with the voltage and frequencies.

What's funny is this will more or less be an exact repeat of last generation more or less. NVIDIA all by itself at the top with its largest chip and AMD competing nicely at the tier below it.
