All die sizes are within 5mm^2. The poster here has been right on some things in the past afaik, and to his credit was the first to saying 505mm^2 for Navi21, which other people have backed up. Even still though, take the following with a pich of salt.

Some ground work for MCM maybe ? Similar to zen + to zen 2.

This is what I expect the smaller bus is for.

Also, smaller buses means AIBs and OEMs have a much easier time integrating chips into dGPUs or laptops. Especially the latter.

Just helps keeps costs down for everyone not AMD really. Can make a big difference if trying to push into the laptop market hard, for example.

As I have said and others just repeated, AMD has no incentive to lower prices and gain market share. Every GPU wafer is a waste of money compared to a Zen2/3 wafer and supply is limited. NV was the only hope for sane prices and a lot of supply since no ones else uses Samsung. But well...

This might still happen. If AMD delivers a card closer to 3090 performance at 1000$, they will sell like crazy and Nvidia will lower prices eventually. Then maybe AMD counters.... Maybe not. But having a contender at the top may convince Nvidia to enter a price war

Why enter a price war when you are selling every unit you make at above MSRP?

The Samsung wafers are cheaper and will resolve their problems in time, meaning NVidia will have more stock available. If AMD sells a card that is 2-300$ cheaper and within 5% performance, do you think they will sell better, assuming unlimited supply from both camps?

In an Unlimited supply situation Nvidia would sell better even with a far worse perf/$ and worse perf/W and probably with outright worse performance full stop due to 'drivers'.

Not really. HD4000 and HD5000 series are proof that's not the case. But it takes several generations of really good products.

AMD are not there yet. If RDNA2 competes with 3080/3090 and has a good driver record then perhaps with RDNA3 and a large price disparity they could out sell NV. Right now though it won't happen.

There are no good margins in consumer GPUs. You want good margins, you sell 70mm2 CPU chiplets not GPUs. As for R&D, that's where MS and Sony come in.

No idea how e-pp marks translate to gaming. But firestrike and timespy are without raytracing.

I am perplexed by the fact the AIB channels apparently are only leaking 6800XT results. If this is the 64CU part and AMD keeps the 80CU part for themselves, where is the 72CU one? If it is a 72CU part and AIB are allowed to offer overclocked SKUs, that doesn't quite leave any space for the supposed 72CU 6900 series part. If the top secret sauce AMD only card is liquid cooled and/or just higher clocked 80CU, then why don't we have plain 80CU results? Generally speaking, where and what is this supposed middle SKU exactly?

Wasn't for 5xxx, or 5xx for that matter if you count 590 as same gen - Vega xx was even weirder using first CU count as model number, and then just the VII for the 7nm gen.

Last one at AMD to use x8x as top SKU was 4xx gen from 2016.

This is the most believable leak, because its based on what AIB's have got from AMD.

So if its 6800XT - according to this has 72 CUs.
