The price for 7800XT is better than most of us feared, the 7700XT is a mixed bag but we need to see what the card is capable of. There will clearly be a cheaper 7700 though, there has to be.

I wouldnt count on it, they simple dont want you to buy the 7700XT (only $50 vs 7800XT) and you believe they are going to release a cheaper card ??

Yes, they'll have a big ~200$ hole between 7600 and 7700XT. They won't be rushing to fill the gap, but they will eventually plug it with something new.

Board power is higher than expected, clocks even lower than I expected (but only by 70MHz). Price as expected (no improvement). Who would buy this over a RTX 4070?

The delay was all inventory management because they didn't fix a thing.

I suspect you are right, and they have basically painted themselves into a corner with packaging costs. A monolith between Navi 33 and Navi32 is what they would need for decent $300-$350 cards.

And what would that be? 7600 is full N33 and looking at the pricing structure between 7700XT/7800XT it feels like AMD aren't going to have a lot of bad dies that need harvesting from N32..

he only slight downer? AMD is integrating it into its HYPR-RX package, which is exclusive to RDNA 3 GPUs - a touch strange bearing in mind that FSR 3, the more complex frame-gen solution, is more broadly compatible.
In terms of fluidity and clarity, FSR 3 looked a match for DLSS 3 - a view shared by Alex, Rich and John, who were all present to see the demos in person. A great start for FSR 3.

It appears to beat the 4070 while costing $100 less. Not really sure who WOULDN’T buy this thing over a 4070 unless they wanted the extra RT performance.

The pricing just goes to show how badly AMD messed up positioning this gen. The 7900 XT should have been $599, and the 7900 XTX $699.

Yes, with something like 6750XT. Dont expect more cards, they only have three chips and NAVI32 is just 200mm2, no way to cut it more , they preferer to sell more RDNA2 bellow 450-500 USD to plug in the 300-400 USD segment than have another cut down version of NAVI32.

Not sure what you are talking about here. FSR 3 Frame Generation where it's included in games will work on most GPUs that support FSR2 (AMD, NVidia, and Intel).

Im waiting for the reviews to get a final conclusion but 7800XT also has 16GB vs 12GB on the 4070, for 1440p and above it counts to a lot of people.

It doesn't have any of the features gamers care about like DLSS3 or DLSS3.5. Instead it has FSR which is inferior, so it won't sell even for $100 less. Most people didn't buy 6800 XT relative to the RTX 4070 and this doesn't change much.

Who cares about DLSS? Do you honestly think the average gamer knows what it is and how to even change settings to enable it?

Paying for proprietary technologies like DLSS doesnt guaranty you will have them in every game, paying 100 USD more to have proprietary technologies like DLSS that will not be present in every game is even stupider

Well... finally.

Clearly AMD and Nvidia are not caring a lot to put a ton of effort into consumer GPUs in a down PC year.

Here's to looking to late 2024, after an AI silicon crash and maybe getting some attention back on our paltry revenue sector.

That said, at least they got the pricing somewhat right, IMO. They laid out slides comparing them to a tier up on nvidia, then priced them below the one tier down. There was no reason for them to be more aggressive than that, this is probably the best possible real world scenario.

And yeah, just keep cranking the 6750xt at ~$300 indefinitely. It is what it is.

They understand it as a $100 for a premium Nvidia experience, maybe they don't know the exact names and versions of certain technologies. But a slightly-improved 6800 XT won't change the sales ratio much.

Yes, that’s without using motion vectors from FSR2. No idea why it’s exclusive to RDNA3, but I wonder how well it works.

Just watched HWUB update, the language from AMD sounds much like NVidia language around why only RTX 4000 has Frame Generation (new technology and they will investigate getting it working on older cards in the future). But I don't care about Fake Frames in the first place. So this whole part is a huge meh...

What really matters is decent price on 7800 XT, while 7700 XT feels much like initial pricing on the 7900 XT, in that it's priced too close to the card above.

OTOH, at $400 7700 XT would be a killer card IMO.

Upselling go BRRRR
Based off of AMD's own data (website and press slides), 7800XT is 21% faster than 7700XT @1440p, they even admit the price/performance is skewed in 7800XT's favor with a slide.

They didn't tease just the imminent FSR3 and HYPR-RX BTW, they also showed Anti-Lag+ (RDNA3 exclusive?) and "Native FSR", working title or not, but it seems a lot like AMD's response to nVidia's DLAA, AKA image reconstruction without the upscaling part. Always wondered when that will come.
