Ryzen 7 3700X: 8C/16T, 3.6/4.4 GHz, 65W TDP, beats i7-9700K in Cinebench R20 (and by a pretty good margin). According to Lisa Su, single-threaded performance is about equal to "our competitor", and multi-threaded performance about 28% better.

Ryzen 7 3800X: 8C/16T, 3.9/4.5 GHz, 105W TDP (that's a lot more TDP for not much more clocks - maybe better/more turbo?...) - Lisa Su says this is the ultimate 8-core CPU, and it's being put up against the 9900K in PUBG where both processors are about the same.

Its probably 4.5Ghz ACT.... at any rate, it was performing equal to a 9900K in gaming at less frecuency... the 9900K runs at 4.7Ghz stock.

Gaming comparison is heavily dependent on the settings and video card used. The Tech Spot re-review of the 9900K at 95W showed very little difference with the unlimited power 9900K.

That's a massacre so far, perf/$ is ridiculous.

They're keeping the 16 core beast for later, stockpile the best binned chiplets similar to what Threadripper is and then bring the product when it's needed.

I wonder how these overclock.

2700 and 2700x, XFR has a hard cap of 65w on the 2700 and boosts much higher on the 2700x thanks to it being a 105w part. We've had a thread recently explicitly showing what difference that makes on the plain 2700.

Same here. 3700x has a 65w TDP limit, 3800x 105w. Of course, don't expect the same XFR behavior as on 2xxx parts, but it should be something like the graph shows.

+40W TDP, I strongly suspect they are from "opposite" bins, so 3800 has much more OC headroom.

Yup, I would assume this too. They will sell better binned chips at a premium... can't blame them, it makes sense.

The 3800X is targeted at the 9900K there is really no much more to add to that, to me it runs at 4.5Ghz ALL CORES, and thats what was needed to match 9900K. This is why they avoided to pit the 3700X vs the 9900K in Cinebench, it probably has a much lower ACT turbo.

They did not wanted to launch a 16C -yet-, they also avoided to talk about anything lower than 8C, what is strange.

3800x vs 3900x will be interesting because it would be 1 8-core chiplet vs 2 chiplets with 6 cores enabled, 3800x may end up being better for gaming purposes without potential hiccups.

It comes with a cooler also I believe. So that's more money saved. The 3900x comes with a cooler also according to this very website.

Does seem like it'll be slower in games but not by much. 5% or so. Intel making new R0 stepping models makes sense now.

AT says the 6 core Ryzen 5 is $249 and $199.
