Speculation: Ryzen 3000 series

Ryzen 3xxx mobile lineup looks to fix the battery life issues somewhat:

I really hope AMD also releases a 7nm APU. If not in 2019Q4 then at least soon after though. I was surprised how 3700U was only about 20-30% faster than Intel gen9 in gaming (compared to ~2x in desktop APUs).

We will need to see what Navi is and when it will launch. I think they are giving themselves a bit of a better launch window for a Zen 2 APU, by launching this early the Zen+ one this early. But if they still need a mono die for the APU's it will always be 6 months behind the new GPU's and CPU's. Both have to be finalized and AMD isn't going to spend the resources or hold out on either of the other ones to launch with the APU. But if the Zen 2 + Navi APU can be a MCM CPU then I think the cycles will shorten significantly.

It probably comes in the stream very soon too.

Probably. I have it open in a tab but won't link stuff here to not hurt anandtech. The word will be out within ~30 minutes anyways.

Just as a teaser: chiplets. Anandtech measured the smaller chiplet as being larger than the epyc 2 one, but looking at the picture I just think they were a bit too quick. That was definitely the same chiplet.

Performance uplift is 16% over 2700x in Cinebench 15 MT at claimed 50w lower power and non final clocks. A caveat here is that Cinebench does not scale much from memory speed/latency improvements, so may not be sensitive to the possible drawbacks of having the memory controllers off die.

Yeah, if they don't release a two chiplet Ryzen right away at least the package appears to be prepared for it down the line, not unsimilar to what happened between Threadripper 1 and 2.

Edit: That keynote sure was a slow buildup for those waiting for Ryzen, lol.

Yeah maybe holding off on doing a multi chiplet support till they can bin them well enough to hit performance metrics while keeping power down (~120w is my guess). Will leave them a mid cycle upgrade to fight Cannon lake.

Or this could just be the basis for a late 2019 Zen 2+Navi APU.

Hasn't that guy been pretty clear throughout that he is basing his reporting on supposed leaks and rumors? I don't recall him stating unequivocally that something absolutely will be the case.

When did he literally lie?
