Except for the details about the improvements in the microarchitecture, we now know pretty well what to expect with Zen 3.

The leaked presentation by AMD Senior Manager Martin Hilgeman shows that EPYC 3 "Milan" will, as promised and expected, reuse the current platform (SP3), and the system architecture and packaging looks to be the same, with the same 9-die chiplet design and the same maximum core and thread-count (no SMT-4, contrary to rumour). The biggest change revealed so far is the enlargement of the compute complex from 4 cores to 8 cores, all sharing a larger L3 cache ("32+ MB", likely to double to 64 MB, I think).

Hilgeman's slides did also show that EPYC 4 "Genoa" is in the definition phase (or was at the time of the presentation in September, at least), and will come with a new platform (SP5), with new memory support (likely DDR5).

What else do you think we will see with Zen 4? PCI-Express 5 support? Increased core-count? 4-way SMT? New packaging (interposer, 2.5D, 3D)? Integrated memory on package (HBM)?

Vote in the poll and share your thoughts!

Born in '81 but I still got the joys of himem.sys, keyboard page codes (thank you Unicode), CDROM, mouse and sound card drivers eating conventional 640K RAM etc.
The worse was trying to give 3MB expanded memory out of 4MB RAM. I hated expanded memory the most. Bless whoever created the DOS Extender and made running Doom posssible without expanded memory.

Are there any good HEDT gaming options coming up? For Intel or AMD? Last time I saw this was probably X99.

that 7995wx siounds like a beat ! 115k on cb23 ???
Its not even a 7995WX. Its a Eng Sample 100-000000997-01 those are ES 9654 and also beastly as well. They are the most powerful Single CPU ever benchmarked. 81,000 points in GB5 and 115K in CBR23, buut Rhe TR 7995WX Will break 150,000 points in CB R23 No problem. The Reason 2S 100-000000997-01 ES System is only getting 110,000 Points is because CBR23 Cant use more than 192 Threads.

AMD has more cores, more lanes, and more CPU horsepower than Intels workstation cpus for less money.

Your trolling continues.
Yeah, and it asks 8 times more money than intel for 64 pcie lanes

This is a heavily biased AMD forum. Every major computer review site says that Intel is better than AMD right now. That may change with the 3D v-cache in the next month. For the unbiased, I think people are waiting for Intel 7nm and 5nm silicon.

As for me. I prefer a CPU that sips power and I will probably be on a Zen 4 non X CPU in the next 6 months. The motherboard prices are really hurting AMD right now in the value segment.

Or maybe people not blind to the truth

I have Intel and only reason I didn't go AMD was coz first of all, I had no immediate plans to upgrade but then ASROCK came up with the PG SONIC Z790 mobo and I was like, hey, that would be cool to get. Of course, two months later, they came out with the B650 Sonic mobo too. Just my luck.

I probably would not have gone Intel if AMD had come out with V-cache CPUs at AM5 launch.
