I have been messing around with my core 2 and just added AS5 to the stock intel CPU fan, before the temps where around 28 degrees Celsius now 17 degrees!!! Thats low isn't it?

Also looking at this screen shot of Speed Fan, what is temp 3? its reading as -2 when I have only 2 fans hooked up.

Screeshot

woah.... fan is set at 4k rpms on the cpu??

doesnt she scream??

Anyhow, yes a common mistake is people tend to apply way too much as5 on there cpu. All you need is a little drop in the middle and then sandwitch the HSF on the IHS.

Hehe... anyhow nice temps!

Care to beat mine?

Core temps and Video Card Core temps on idle

but i cheated cuz im on water..

heh.. anyhow nice job..

yep a little grain of rice is all I put on it. Now to take off the northbridge maybe later. My mobo has built in speed fan control. I dont know which is which in my fans. I have 2 yate loons so I cant tell if they are the ones at 4000 or if the cpu is at 4000...

I have Speedfan 4.31 and it has a new field called "Core" in addition to Temp 1/2/3 which the last version I used didn't.

The Core reading reports the same temp as CoreTemp. In the configure screen, Temp 1/2/3 are reported by the Winbond sensor while Core is listed as 'AMD K8'. I'm guessing it is the same sensor that CoreTemp reads?

I dont think YATES can go up to 4k rpms. :X I think its a broken RPM sensor on your board.

careful with the NB.

the NB doesnt have a IHS, so you cant use the grain of rice technique.

Easiest way is to get some plastic wrap, and wrap your index finger when applying. Put a small dot, 1/3rd the size of your cpu amount and gently try to spead it all over the die evenly so none of the black part comes out. Dont put too much, and it doesnt have to be pefectly even.
