Speed fan?

Just downloaded speed fan and ran into a small issue with it... I don't know where Temp1 -3 are coming from. is there any way to figure this out? I'm only asking becase Temp1 is getting fairly warm 50C range under load, and I want to know what I need to cool better, so is there any way to figure out where it's getting those numbers from?

" F71882F found on ISA at $290 "is where it's coming from, but that doesn't tell me anything, and speed fan's support page if fairly limited from what I've found so far.... the Mobo if it helps is an EPoX MF4-Ultra nForce 4 chipset

temp 1 i believe is your ambient temp around your cpu
temp 2 is your chipset
temp 3 is your PWM area where your power cords connect to the mobo.

Your BIOS should have a page t hat displays current temps. Look there, then match up speedfan with them.

...then click on Configure and change the lables to something meaningful to you.

You can also try PC Wizard 2007 (from the folks who make CPU-Z)... that may help you correlate which temp is which.

You would think, but I checked my BIOS 'Health Status' page and it had CPU temp, which was 1c from speedfan before the reboot and system temp which was 28C; the same Temp 2 in speed fan... is there any way to determine if it's the RAM or NB? I would really like to know where all this heat is coming from...under load it's about 10c hotter than the CPU Core I also noticed that the Vcore in speedfan in .99 and BIOS has it at 1.35, I'm going to assume my BIOS is correct, is there any better way to find out accuratly what the Vcore is?

That's the "Fintek F71882F Super IO chip"... which happens to be the same one being used on my MSI 650i-based board (MSI P6N Platinum). I don;t know a lot about whether or not these Super IO chips are programable or whether they always report the same, but here's how it worked out on my motherboard...

Temp 1 - "System"
Temp 2 - "CPU"
Temp 3 - N/A (shows up negative on my system)

...SpeedFan also reports temps for the following on my system...

HD0
HD1
HD2
Core 0
Core 1

...my fans work out to be the following (may be different on yours)...

Fan 1 - CPU (PWM fan)
Fan 2 - VGA (connector near VGA cards)
Fan 3 - NB Fan (connector closest to NB chip)
Fan 4 - Chasis (connector on front edge of mb, between SATA connectors and memory)

...the 'Speeds' page should match up with the 'Fans' page. For the Voltages, your guess is about as good as mine (I've given some of mine better labels, but I don't pay much attn to those).

Thanks for the input... it seems to be the RAM. I changed the direction of the fan on the side of my case from pull to push and the temp hasn't gone past 45C yet. The only reason I think it may be the RAM is becase the fan is pointing almost directly on it. may be NB but I dunno, 50+C for a NB is a tad hot, right? What is a safe temp for RAM to run at? I would assume to keep it in the standard anything over 45C is bad group. also NF4 NB safe temp would be nice to have also PC wizard is WAY off and not much more help... CPU temp on it is 255c but system temp is correct. Voltage WAY off as well... reading 3.36 on +12V.

I guess Vista was the thing throwing the voltage off, I know this doesn't exactly belong here but meh. Still dont know what temp 1 is!!! Grr stupid mobo
