I agree.

He should continue to fight it. Do not pay the $219.00 at this time. Spend who knows how much more time and money. I'm sure it will be well worth it. :|
I am very nearly gnashing my teeth here, not at you, but at the situation.
There is clear unjust going on (and not just this case), but without a collective effort, how would one go about challenging it?

What about the message for fairness? Will paying and moving on make it hard for innocent people to fight? This is the only ticket I have received in 20 years and it was given for meanness and not because of guilt. The officer was attempting to prove a point. He quit. I thought I won but no it continued until they tricked me with the courtroom swap. I'm slow but not ignorant.

It seems like you really want to fight it, so go for it.

A cost/benefit analysis is not important to you, so again, keep up the good fight.

As I stated before, in my experience(s), it has not been worth it.

I, too, believe they tricked you. (no sarcasm) And I believe at this point, if you do find a lawyer, the lawyer is really just stealing your money. You may be able to, as someone else mentioned, pay the fine and then sue? Dunno. Or you can...not pay, and get yourself registered in another state.

If what the OP says is true, why should anyone have to pay up in this situation? This is flat out extortion, and I wholly support OP not paying for a crime he did not commit.

Where does the "innocent until proven otherwise" fit in to all of this anyhow?

That only applies to criminal court. This is traffic court.

if all fails. I will pay the fine and sue for my money and lost time as suggested. All I want is to be treated fair and just. If we all cave to spare our time we will hurt everyone who follows us.

Maybe i'm not cynical enough, which would be scary, but surely they don't actually deliberately misdirect through courtroom changes at the last minute. No way he could have found out? If you knew who the prosecutor would be and he's not in the courtroom when you are, then you're probably in the wrong room? How many are there? Take a quick peek around. They would also publish all the cases in a place that makes sense, or there would be a registration desk to ask for advice if you can't find your name on the list.

Not saying that it's necessarily the case that the OP wasn't diligent.

the prosecutor is all over. keep in mind this is a small place. and the courtroom they switched to, I was not aware existed. It was small, similar to a den in a house. The courtroom I was in is huge and looks like something from Perry Mason. Keep in mind, I've been going for over 2 years, I am not going to blow it by not being in the right place. Especially since all I had to do is call the ticketing officer to testify and once he was shown not present the case would be thrown out.
