Speeding ticket in a school zone

A friend of mine got a speeding ticket in a 20mph school zone going 40ish (school zone = double fine). What are the chances of the cop not showing up in court?

My Dad is a cop, they tend to schedule all his court cases on one day. So I would bet the cop would be there.

My brother in law is a cop and he hates court. But there are very few acceptable reasons for not being there. If he doesn't show up and doesn't have one of those reasons, it is seen as a very bad thing.

I bet you the cop will be there.

I had a parking ticket and it musta flown off my car, so I had to go to court and I went to court, and the day I went was for all the cases of this one cop. The cop never showed and it was his like 2nd time in a month not showing, so the Judge got pissed at him and let everyone off scott-free! :Q

Hell yeah, he not only deserves a ticket biut a smack upside the head, you have to be a real scumbag to speed in a school zone.

To my friend's defense, it was a main arterial with a 40 speed limit. And, it was around 11 at the time (there shouldn't be children on the streets at 11). The school isn't directly located on that street.

But I agree, it does look bad and the cop has some extra incentive to show up to this one versus a non-school-zone speeding ticket.

I'm guessing your friend was under 20? He needs to learn to pay attention when he's driving.
