Speeding up an AVI in Virtualdub. How to keep the audio in sync?

I'm trying to reencode an AVI file I downloaded from Youtube to play 20% faster. I've upped the frame rate, but can't figure out how to make the audio speed up to match the video speed. It seems to play at the default speed no matter what, making it impossible to sync with the video. Is there a simple way of speeding up the video + audio together?

P.S. If the pitch of the original audio could be preserved, that would be a bonus.

AVI from YouTube? It should probably be MP4 or FLV. In any case, try Avidemux -it's an editor for all formats with many filters available. Alternatively, simply play the file at a higher speed with MPC-HC or VLC?

Virtualdub doesnt accept .flv files so I re-encoded it into an AVI. I'm trying to create a brand new video that runs at a higher speed..but when I change the FPS, the video always runs faster than the audio, resulting in them being out of sync. It would be lovely to have a program with a simple slider that adjusts both the video + audio together.

I would suggest downloading the mp4 version and re-encoding with ffmpeg
