Has anyone ever spent real money on an IAP before? Maybe if you're playing Clash of Clans and you have the opportunity to purchase gold for $20 Or, what about Candy Crush? Did you ever spend money to advance your status in the game?

I'm currently playing Walking Dead: No Man's Land. They have 1,200 gold on sale for $99 Don't know if I could justify spending $99 on a smartphone game.

yes I have in WoT. When the difference is $10 or 40 hours of grinding, I'm paying the $10.

I could never justify $100 for a cell phone game IAP though, that's ridiculous.

Those $10 purchases can add up real quickly. At least in mobile gaming. They have 500 gold for $4.99 but it's not much.

The only game i've spent money on is Dungeon Rush. I just found that I really enjoyed the game and in order to be able to fully enjoy the game I spent $15 which gave me permanent VIP 2 status (and other items, but that's why I did it). That expanded my max champ list so I could play the game as intended. You can get crazy and spend thousands on these games and it will help, but what's the point? I didn't feel bad dropping $15, but that's all they get.

I say if you find a game you are getting good enjoyment out of, don't be afraid to drop a little bit if it really makes a difference. But if it's just coins, or whatever they are selling... not worth it by itself for me.

Send me $19.99 and I'll email you every day for a year telling you how handsome, talented and, wize you are. I promise not to point and laugh too much.

$15 isn't that bad at all. Especially if you enjoy the game.

I have trouble because it is so easy to spend money, You can now charge the IAp's to your phone bill. It'd be great if game developers went back to how the did it. Take PSP games. I'd rather spend $30 on a full game, than download freemium games w/ IAP's.

I dropped some decent coin on Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes but Ive been able to have Apple refund me most of it. Currently a member of one of the worlds top guilds and its a decent fun time so I dont mind spending the cash.

No for apps, yes for F2P PC desktop games (Star Trek Online, Marvel Heroes 2016). If I play the game as much or more than a $60 title + season pass worth of DLC then I have no problem spending money on the "free" game.

Note that I mean purchases from the game company, not from the sleazy gold farmers who spam chat, steal credit cards and sometimes break into your home to murder your pets. Poor fluffy

Isn't an IAP a test given to students or something to find out if they need special education?

Edit - Looks like there's IAPs and IEP's.

Yes, it's stupid. Yes, I've done it.

Yup. If you take a step back, you're spending money on doing something that you enjoy. It's no different than buying a candy bar for a dollar at the checkout line. Frivolous but enjoyable. I used to think it was a pretty dumb way to blow money, but aside from the time-spent-enjoying factor, there's also the cost factor...for perspective, an Xbox game is like $59 a pop. I think all of the IAP's I've made on my iPhone in the past 9 years adds up to less than that.

It also really bugs me when people will blow money on something stupid, but not on a quality mobile app. Case in point, I had a few friends who were taking a photography class together & were planning on using their 12-megapixel iPhones. I told them to buy Camera+, which is an amazing photography & editing app for $2.99 that lets you separate out focus & exposure when taking shots, do a variety of Lightroom-style edits, and has a bunch of other great features - no computer required, no complex Photoshop program to learn, just awesome, easy photo-taking & photo-editing. It's three bucks. None of them bought it. But every single day, they would show up with $7 lattes from Starbucks. Really? Really?

Never on a mobile game, and never will. I don't think I've ever actually played a game like that, anyway, and never will.

I have spent money on Marvel Heroes, though, which is F2P and as a nice money system. Those costs do add up and yes, it's stupid, but I justify them based on the inordinate amount of time spent in such a game. Never again, though.
