My GF spends ~$200 on a pair of jeans easily. All that designer stuff....

But then again, she thinks I'm crazy that I want to spend 1k+ on a nice Martin acoustic....

all those high priced jeans are for skinny euros who weigh like 140lbs. i don't have to even debate on spending that much $$ for them. my girl had me try on some diesel jeans and I couldn't even get them up around my thighs w/out my nuts being squeezed against my legs. and i'm a 34 waist.

Outside of dress clothes (which I don't need anyway), I would never spend more than $15 on a shirt, $30 on jeans.

I buy pants at old navy and shirts at modell's or ross or khol's. Clothes are only useful to me to not be naked.

As always, this is a computer forum where people find no plausible reason to spend money on clothing vs the people who find no reason to build their own computer vs a HP.

Person 1 into clothing: i spent 500 bucks on clothing
Person 2 into computers: waste of money, i shop at costco

Person 2 into computers: i spent 600 bucks on a new CPU and HSF
Person 1 not into computers: waste of money, i bought a dell for 600 bucks.

so .. it's your money -- spend how you want.

A more expensive computer gives you a significant upgrade over a regular run of the mill computer.

A more expensive pair of pants does not do that, unless your self esteem is derived from wearing overpriced garbage.

A better metaphor would be comparing people who buy Monster cables vs sane people who shop at monoprice.

The material quality, the craftsman ship and the cut/fit are drastically different from and cheapo jeans I've ever worn. Like no comparison. Similar tom comparing a ford focus engine to an M3 engine.

Sure you can get by with a ford focus all day but and m3 engine just out performs in all categories. Feeling good driving it is just small piece of it.

The only expensive piece of clothing I wear, if it even counts, are shoes. My work/dress shoes are around $80, my running shoes cost me $106. But I wear those daily and I pay extra so my feet aren't sore. To me that makes sense. But my jeans are $20 Costco Levis. Even my nice button downs are $20 Kohls Arrow fitted. And I only buy new clothes when they are on sale at Mervyns or Macys or wherever, why pay full price when they will be 30-40% off in a week.

I just don't see the benefit of $100+ jeans. You say they last longer, but mine last years with no problems, and I can buy 5 for the price of one pair of yours. You say they are the only ones that fit right, well I don't know what exactly that means. Are you wearing jeans that are tight and accentuate your ass or something? If so, I guess that is fine, I just can't stand my junk being squished like that, and I couldn't care less what my ass looks like. I wear jeans because they are comfortable.

I can understand paying for shirts that fit, I've gone through my fare share of crappy shirts that fit horribly. But if your spending $80+ on a shirt, your not doing it for comfort, stop kidding yourself.

Im bigger than you I would wager in all categories. You have to find the relaxed fit. My 7s are actually a little too big now than when I bought them because I've lost an inch of my waist in the last year. Still...no nut hugging. Although I have tried on jeans like you've described and been like who the fuck are these supposed to fit? What guy has a 36/38 waist and pencil thin legs????

don't get me wrong, 8 years ago it would've mattered to me: ZOMG need 4 more FPS in tfc. not so much anymore.

$200 on three shirts is reasonable, maybe a little high. $420 on two pairs of jeans is insane. I'm not really a jeans person, though.

Do you go out and socialize? Do you go places that aren't dirt floor dives?

If yes how can anyone take you seriously if you are dressed like a bum? I only have one pair of expensive jeans and they were worth every penny twice.

If you are a country bumpkin the I wouldn't expect you to understand.

If you went into debt to buy them, you spent too much. If you have enough money that it was an insignificant expenditure, then more power to you.

Besides the pertinent point that material/craftsmanship quailty is higher in designer jeans, your argument ignores social status as a valued economic good. Mercedes' aren't 3x better than cars they cost 3x more than, but social status means something in certain circles. This is a fact, though you are free to ignore it.

When I was in 4th grade, I wore my socks to my knees because it felt more comfortable to me than crimping them down around my ankles. The resulting social ostracism (especially from the recently discovered female sex) was sufficient to convince me the slightly less comfortable crimping was worth not being labeled the dork with the knee highs. If you live in a community where no one wears expensive jeans, then there's no reason to wear them. If you are a young professional in a metro area looking to get laid and everyone wears them, you don't want to be the guy in the Old Navy jeans.

As Slim said, if you are married, this is moot. If you are single in a major city, wear $20 jeans at your own social risk.

Just slap some expensive jeans on a fat retard and he would get laid?

Mate my training shoes are ~ $250!!!!! But I train 8-10x a week so the price is off set with the amount of time I actually wear them. They are SO bad ass!

My normal shoes are $120-150

Jeans for the most part, unless they are horrenduously badly cut aren't that important! Well as long as they fit and are comfy. I've bought cheaper stuff and the material is worser and they probably didn't last as long, but they weren't anywhere near 1.5-2x as bad as the other pricier jeans. For me it's all about fit, design and price. I balance those 3 out, but I would refuse to spend £100 on a pair of jeans personally. £70 is about tops for me.

It's just different priorities. I spent £65 on a dam torch ffs and my weightlifting shoes are £135!

I understand sirjonk's point, but there is more to it. Sure there are people out there who really do care what jeans you are wearing, but do I really want anything to do with them? If you have any skills with women and are normal looking, decent shape, wearing $20 jeans isn't going to prevent you from getting laid, if anything it helps screen out the stuck up gold diggers. Sure maybe wearing $120 jeans might help you, but it isn't going to get you laid.

Jeans are just part of your front. Front = your outward appreance. The stronger your front the easier it will be to get girls. Front is your clothing, your car, jewelry, fitness, over all looks.

I can't stand to wear any jewelry! I do wear a watch but it is nothing to shout about. It tells the time and is a somewhat cool look. A pretty amazing £60 spent!

Of course you are correct, every piece helps, but it is up to each person to decide if that extra bit of help with your outward appearance is worth the cost. To me it really isn't worth the extra $80. And I stick to me previous statement about the type of women you are trying to attract.
