You're an idiot. That's my first reaction.

For $600 I could replace my entire wardrobe 2 or 3 times.

For pants, since Lucky do not make pants, i go with Banana Republic or Gap, they usually have the best fit for pants but their denim sucks.

As always, this is a computer forum where people find no plausible reason to spend money on clothing vs the people who find no reason to build their own computer vs a HP.

Person 1 into clothing: i spent 500 bucks on clothing
Person 2 into computers: waste of money, i shop at costco

Person 2 into computers: i spent 600 bucks on a new CPU and HSF
Person 1 not into computers: waste of money, i bought a dell for 600 bucks.

so .. it's your money -- spend how you want.

A more expensive computer gives you a significant upgrade over a regular run of the mill computer.

A more expensive pair of pants does not do that, unless your self esteem is derived from wearing overpriced garbage.

A better metaphor would be comparing people who buy Monster cables vs sane people who shop at monoprice.

The material quality, the craftsman ship and the cut/fit are drastically different from and cheapo jeans I've ever worn. Like no comparison. Similar tom comparing a ford focus engine to an M3 engine.

Sure you can get by with a ford focus all day but and m3 engine just out performs in all categories. Feeling good driving it is just small piece of it.

They're fucking pants, dude. Pants.

ok a phone is just a phone but people still spend hundreds on cell phones whats your point?

Well if you're a business person and you need one of those expensive cell phones for all the extra features that it provides over a regular phone, then by all means. But if you're like me, and use your phone for calling and texting people, then buying an iPhone is idiotic.

Right now I am wearing a pair of 30 or 40 dollar old navy jeans that have lasted the past 4 years.

lol Old Navy FTW! Though they only last me 6 months, as stated twice above. LOL.

How odo they only last you 6 months? Jeans don't exactly fall apart so I could keep them for a decade if I need to.

They fade, tears and holes, The material stretches and no long has any "fit" just sorta hangs. The material becomes scuffed and worn begins to have a "fuzzyish" look to it.

Just slap some expensive jeans on a fat retard and he would get laid?

I understand sirjonk's point, but there is more to it. Sure there are people out there who really do care what jeans you are wearing, but do I really want anything to do with them? If you have any skills with women and are normal looking, decent shape, wearing $20 jeans isn't going to prevent you from getting laid, if anything it helps screen out the stuck up gold diggers. Sure maybe wearing $120 jeans might help you, but it isn't going to get you laid.

You pretty much get my point, but extrapolate the personality of the guy who wears $20 jeans to bars/lounges. Again, we're not talking about a small rural town, but major metro areas. No, nice jeans don't get you laid (megavovan seems to like taking one example and bringing it to the extreme position) but if you wear cheap jeans, you also probably wear other cheap clothes, and maybe you don't think getting a hair cut is that important, and your breath kind of smells, and you like pink alcoholic beverages. What you wear, how you look, how you present yourself, these things all come together to give someone who looks at you a first impression in about 2 seconds, which fair or not is how they are likely to think of you. Good jeans are a part of the message that say "I am not a socially backward person. And I'm not broke."

Do you go out and socialize? Do you go places that aren't dirt floor dives?

If yes how can anyone take you seriously if you are dressed like a bum? I only have one pair of expensive jeans and they were worth every penny twice.

If you are a country bumpkin the I wouldn't expect you to understand.

Do people actually notice your stupid pants? I highly doubt it. Besides, people who judge others based on how much they spend on clothes are people I don't want to socialize with, so when I'm out somewhere they can ignore me if they like.

It's a choice.

It has actually replaced my iPod (dam thing broke after 4yrs solid usage), makes call and the internet and googlemaps on it works very well. The ease of use works fine for my needs. It is a very slick product with some mornic things missing! No MMS, copy and paste etc wtf?!

you didn't answer the questions I posed? why?

To verify....people may not recognize your outfit by how much you spent but how it looks as a whole. Does this person look like a bum or someone who is successful in life? Yes people especially girls notice for sure. This isn't just in the social world but the business world as well.

When you go out where do you go out? If you are hanging out at low class places it won't matter what you wear as I stated before.

Coats I can see because they last forever but shoes need to be replaced regularly. In fact I exercise often enough that I buy 3 pairs just for running/tennis in a given year while I buy 1 pair per year for work. Thats about $300 right there. If you don't exercise then you've got
Shoes - $40 on a decent sale
Underwear & Sock ~ $15
and $45 to replace anything that wears out. Assuming you don't mind shopping at consignment/second hand stores I guess I'll buy that. I hope you don't need to dress up for anything though.

The OP otoh is simply nuts, or rich.

I wear ONE pair of jeans, so in 6 months they fade/holes/etc from wear and washes.
They just look old, lol. Besides I still grow and want slightly different size next time I buy jeans. Current ones crush my nuts after a wash (but loosen up after a day).

And I'm not into "torn faded punctured jeans". My pair has fade but that's from use. I would prefer that it won't be there but eh, in couple months I'll buy another pair and junk this one.

Most of my big spending is on work clothes (shirts, ties, suits). For casual clothes I can't bring myself to spend over $100 on jeans or shirts.
