Venom was such a let down.

Now they could do an R film and make Carnage (which could be pretty epic with the proper directing, a la Dark Knight), but pigs will fly before that happens.

Well...they did say MJ is done for this series....


so either he embarks on the MJ that most college kids are accustomed too (they did say the film will be centered on his college years), or he embarks on a guy version of MJ (Michael Jackson??? Once you go, you cannot go back), which fits the description well.

With the Sam Raimi series, I was seriously hoping the continuation of that world would bring about The Lizard, because that's exactly where it was beginning to point. It had all the buildup for him, as it was the teacher for so long, a big respected figure for Spidey. And then his research was taking him toward the point of testing tissue-growth on himself, basically it was hinted strongly in Spiderman 3 that The Lizard would be next.

But the next Spiderman movie is completely scrapping all of that story, and they are still just straight into the Lizard? He's still going to be highschool spidey all over again, and they're going to jump right into The Lizard's story.
Meh.

And I'm still pissed at Raimi basically hating Venom - he stated all the time he wanted to get Venom out of the way and completely forget about him as a villain.
Venom is the best villain in the series imho. Such an awesome, comic-book style villain - the complete polar opposite character, which is what made it so intriguing and fun. And I feel they treated Venom fairly well in Spiderman 3, at least for the minimal screen time he had.

Hopefully the new series revisits Venom, otherwise I really won't care about the franchise.

The movie will play like Spiderman 2 with Doc Ock.... A professor with a tragedy, turned to villainy, hold Spiderman responsible, fight Spiderman, struggle between being good and being evil, and, at the end, self sacrifice to redeem himself.
Then Spiderman dances.....

They should have used Mysterio as the villain and cast Bruce Campbell in the role.
They could just write him as a failed actor that did multiple jobs (as in the 3 movies) and still hold a grudge and be a villain for revenge.
Or as the Chameleon.

I was just thinking, they could salvage the Kingpin character that was destroyed in the horrendous Daredevil movie. he works as one of Spidey's villains.

...or at least fix the Daredevil movie.

Hope so, Spiderman 2 is the best Spiderman film and one of the best Superhero films.

The cast is shaping up to be pretty awesome; Emma Stone wub, Andrew Garfield, Rhys Ifans and it will be interesting to see what Marc Webb can do with the franchise.

I wouldn't say I'm excited, but I'm certainly intrigued. :hmm:
