From my part I propose that spirituality is a broader topic than religion, and religion is a sub-topic of spirituality.
The way I see it, spirituality has to do with our behavior in mind, heart, and body that transcends what I call materiality.
And what is materiality?
Materiality is our behavior that has to do with our body in regard to biology and physiology, like for example with eating and yes, sexual activities, to keep alive and to contribute to the continuation of our species, and of course with carnal (read that sexual) pleasure; and also materiality has to do with our interest in the physical world, as distinct from the spiritual world -- I will now proceed to talk about what is spirituality, so that we can work together to concur on what is spirituality as distinct from religion or religiosity.
As I said at the start, "The way I see it, spirituality has to do with our behavior in mind, heart, and body that transcends what I call materiality."
See, dear colleagues here, whether you will agree with me, that spirituality is everything we behave on and act on, which behavior and action are not grounded on the three emotions ancient wisdom is always trying to move mankind to control, instead of being controlled by them, namely: lust, greed, and ambition.
So, when we are in control of our lust, our greed, and our ambition on the one hand, and more importantly we pursue liberation from gluttony and lust, from avarice, and from vanity and power over fellowmen, that is spirituality in essence; moreover, in specifics, we ordain our existence and life to occupy ourselves with cultivating knowledge and appreciation of the world that exists beyond the physical and the carnal.
Now religion, what is religion?
As I said earlier, religion is a sub-topic of spirituality, it consists in a systematized knowledge and practice of spirituality in a group of humans, the group can be a nation or can be just say a clan.
So, dear colleagues here, present your inputs on what is spirituality and what is religion, so that we can work to concur on a common concept respectively of spirituality and of religion, and put their definitions in a few concise, precise, and clear words
...give us your thoughts. spirituality is not any religion or doctrine. just the belief of meta physics so to say. taht would not actually be a valid description but i think you can guess what spirituality means.
