This has to be one of the easiest ways to get newer games now. Especially if you don't want to spend 60 bucks. I've seen codes for Xbox too for this game on eBay. Even if you don't like it you won't feel like you wasted money.

Well, I've had about 5 crashes so far, all "Blacklist_DX11_game.exe has stopped working". Preliminary google-fu tells me it's related to multi-GPU usage. Some fixes here, on page 2, for those affected. Seems to be working for me so far.

This error isn't exclusive to multi-GPU setups. I'm using a single 7870, and I just got this crash too (Blacklist_DX11_game.exe has stopped working).

The game definitely has some quirks right now. Notably, it refuses to properly save my graphics settings. For some reason it insists on using 1600x900. I have to manually change it to 1920x1080 every time I boot up the game. One one of those occasions, I got a crash.

I also got a really bizarre glitch when exiting multiplayer mode; as it returned me back to the Paladin, the screen somehow shrunk (?) and wasn't filling my entire monitor. Had to reboot the game.

I guess that's what I get for buying a game shortly after release. A patch should be coming through the pipeline soon I hope.

Otherwise, I'm pleased with the game's general performance. On Ultra settings at 1080p, FXAA, Vsync off, my framerate averages in the 50-60 range. Not too shabby.

I had the same problem with graphics settings not being saved (starting up in a window, 1600x900 max resolution, etc.). Go under \My Docs\Ubisoft\Blacklist, make the changes to the VideoSettings.ini, and they should stick.

A friend of mine recently bought 2 x EVGA SuperClocked 780's. Since each one came with a code, he gave me one. We both installed the game, but I've been off from work this week, so I've logged PLENTY of play time.

I haven't played a Splinter Cell game since maybe the first or second one. At the time I found it a little difficult to turn off my FPS / Kill everything mentality. Now, I'm 46 Y.O. and I'm a bit more fond of strategy instead of constant run-and-gun. I like the gameplay so far. I've finished 3 game missions (Safehouse, Stronghold, American Consumption) and am trying a few of the character missions (the Island Fort one from Grim and an Embassy one from Charlie). I enjoyed playing the game enough that I've played the first mission 3 times already. I guess I found it a bit 'easy' to finish compared to how I remember the first SC game I played. Of course, things might get a bit more difficult as the game progresses.

IIRC, STEALTH was a necessity in the early game(s). In this version, you can play Ghost (pure stealth), Panther (stealth and eliminate), or Assault (full on Kill). When I went back to play the same level more than once, I try for a more stealthy round. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work out that way.

I find it a bit buggy. A few times it will lock up on me. Sometimes it will completely crash. While other times it freezes and switches to Windowed mode (at which time I can hit 'ESC' and reset the graphic back to 'FULLSCREEN' and then go back into the game. It's aggravating, but not so bad that I'll stop playing yet....

I'm enjoying the game a lot. Got through I think 6 or 7 missions. Finished them all on Ghost. My favorite one is the abandoned mill in the UK. The game really picks up from there. I also notice that while you can go in guns blazing I have not done that yet. It's not practical and often doesn't work like conviction.

I've pretty much used non lethal attacks the whole way through so far. There were some times I ran out of shockers so I had to flee without being unnoticed.

The only part I don't like is the dogs since they can smell you from far away, and the heavy dudes which if you can't get them from above you need to follow them and strike while they have their back to you.

It definitely requires some patience and trying out different routes which can be hard to find without stumbling upon them by accident at times.

I'm also surprised that there is no way to stun the heavy helmet guards. Sleepy gas doesn't work and neither does the tear gas. My guess is the proxy mine but that will change your rating if you use that.

I don't understand what you mean. You can buy gear specialized to provide less gadget space for armor vs stealth but that won't do anything towards heavies.

I'm absolutely loving the game so far. I'm playing it on second hardest and it's really rough sometimes but fun. Upgrading your weapons to armor piercing bullets helps a lot vs the heavy dudes.

Oh crap I didn't realize you could upgrade the bullets to hollow points. How many difficulties are there ? Isn't it only rookie, normal, and hard?

What if you don't want to kill the heavies and just go non lethal, have you found a way to subdue them with a shocker ?

You have to subdue them from behind, full stealth, haven´t found any other way.

I havent played SC since chaos theory... I have been thinking about this one though just not sure if it was any good.

It will remind you of the old games. Not 100% like the old ones but it's a lot better than conviction. Guards move around more freely and sometimes there are a lot of them. You can use many different methods to get by. Levels seem to be pretty large too. I would say each mission can last up to 40 min if you take the stealthy route. Stealth will require patience.

Multiplayer is in the form of spies vs mercenaries. I've never played any splinter cell MP before so I think it is cool. There is co op mode too where you can complete challenges and non campaign missions with online players. You earn points and money that you can use towards gadgets and unlocks.

My brother and I used to play chaos theory MP all the time.... We used to have a good time too.

I still can't get it to load in DirectX 11...I switch the setting in the options, restart, then go back to settings and it's back on DirectX 9.

You can add http://www.netwares.com to the list of cheap refill sites. Pretty good service. You can save a lot of money going the refill route, especially if you do quite a bit of color photo printing.

Aren't there two launch icons? In my program files where it's installed there is a regular one and a dx11 exe too. Once I changed it in settings and saved it's been fine. I did get it starting in window mode often especially when you alt tab. Have to go in settings and set the resolution again

Ah yeah you have to use the Dx11 .exe to get it to use DX11...too bad I really can't tell any difference between the DX9 and DX11 other than I get ~10 more FPS with DX11 :hmm:

Anyway, just beat the campaign. It ended kind of abruptly, was hoping for more
