Voting with your wallet and not supporting games with restrictive DRM sends a clear message to the publisher that their customer base isn't willing to put up with such nonsense. Since most gamers think along the same lines as you though, and don't think they can actually make any impact, publishers will continue to include this crippleware with their products.

So justify it as you wish, but buying these games is telling Ubisoft you think this is ok.

Take your idealism of voting with your wallet and see how far that gets you. Fact of the matter is, is that DRM isn't going away. And regardless of whether we like it or not, it'll continue to get more and more restrictive.

Now, while you're boycotting ubisoft, I'm playing a game without any problems. You don't like and don't buy it. Great, more power to you.

That's fine, and is your decision to make. I'm just pointing out that the reason they continue to use DRM is because people like yourself continue to support it by purchasing these games. No matter how little of an impact you think it makes, buying the game is still supporting Ubisoft's DRM.

If i'm a DRM hater, what does that make you?

And aside from that, why should I have to resort to illegally running a crack for a game whose DRM has already been broken?

how is it "illegal" if you own the game?

Using a software crack circumvents federal DMCA laws which state you cannot purposefully bypass software security. Obviously, the law isn't enforced, but technically you are breaking the law by circumventing the security.

It isnt illegal...some people just need something to bitch and complain about sometimes...

Apparently you do as well..

Guys, I'm really sorry I brought up DRM and started this whole debate. I didn't mean to. I don't even hate DRM... I don't like it but it usually doesn't interfere.

I just wait to buy games when they're on sale, although it sounds like those who did buy it also waited for a sale.

No need to apologize. DRM is an important issue that affects every PC gamer in one way or another. I'm simply stating my view about the topic as were you. The fact that others responded means they want to debate the topic (it doesn't cause me issues, not a big deal, etc..). Otherwise they would have simply ignored it and moved on.

Ubi doesn't even need DRM to kill this game...The crappy coding of this PC port is enough to do the job.

MW2 runs at constant 60 fps on my Phenom II + 9600GT. I fully expect a game that has lousier graphics than MW2 to at least run just as fast, but NO it runs like a freaking slideshow in comparison.

Really, are we going into the dreaded era of buying new hardware just to compensate for more inefficiencies from's the developer's part, or worse with EVEN lousier graphics to boot?

I have to agree with you. My old laptop (Intel C2D P8700 @ 3ghz and Nvidia GTX260m 1GB) could run a lot of games...even Just Cause 2 on near max settings, but SC:C really did run like crap...I dont see how though...
