Splinter Cell Double Agent Graphics on PC

So, after repeated attempts, I can't play more than 30 seconds of DA - the graphics are terrible. Everything is incredibly grainy, and textures are mashed up everywhere. I installed the latest ATI driver, but no luck. I've tried turning everything off, and it looked like just a bit better than quake 2. Is there anything else I can try to get this to work?

Opteron 165 @ 2.3ghz
1 gb RAM
x1800 w/ 256 mb
Dell 2001fpw

What exactly do you mean by grainy? The reviews don't mention anything like that, and if it's anything like CT it should be one of the best looking games currently out. I'm planning to get it in a day or two.

This game apparently requires an SM3 card, but you should be covered there.

By grainy I mean that the image looks like I'm watching TV over bunny ears antena, and the signal isn't quite up to strength. Also, there is an 'L' shaped section of the screen where the image looks right, but the rest just looks terrible. The resolution it's on currently is 1280x960...16:10. I just played some oblivion w/, and the graphics looked amazing, so it isn't my monitor or video card.
