I've been f*ing around with Ubisoft tech support for months, they have it listed on their website under video in the Knowledge Base. When playing the blurry light effects that come from windows and light fixtures seem to fill the room and can be seen through characters and walls. They see to fix this you simply turn your AA off. Now let me ask you this, if this is listed in the knowledge base that means that it is a common problem, so why don't they patch it! Why do game designers think that turning off stuff is the perfect way to fix problems instead of fixing them right the first time. Its not like this is on Xbox and there is nothing they can do to fix it. And besides if the game box says "PC CD-ROM" I expect it to work with any imaginable hardware configuration, without having to sacrifice picture quality. Are they trying to tell us that we would be better off just buying consoles instead. I hate consoles!:disgust:

1. Chill out.

2. It has to do with the rendering process. Check out this thread and go to the third from the bottom post where a 3D Programmer - handle "dlepage" - explains:

The problem related to AA in Splinter Cell - PC is the glow effect.
The way we are doing it is:
-For each object with glowing texture or with glow set in it's object descriptor, we are tagging the frame buffer with a stencil bit when we reach saturation level on the color channel.
-Then, when we are done rendering the frame, we create mipmaps of the whole screen based on the stencil bit and the saturation color and we add them one on top of each other. This is creating a somewhat larger and blurrier (than the original object) saturation area around light sources.

Splinter Cell wasn't developed for PCs, it was made for consoles and we should be thankful the flagship version was the Xbox and not Crapstation 2! Too many times, ports have been simple transfers of the PS2 version meaning other, even PC gamers, were saddled with PS2s cruddy assets.

Bloodrayne is a good example: It's dull and muddy on the Xbox and hardly better on the PC, though the bump mapping helps a bit.

BTW: SC on XB doesn't do AA AFAIK.
