Hi guys, my family just recently got cable back at home, we live in the country so broadband hasnt been out there until now. Anyways, they only have it connected in the computer room and i would like to have it in my room as well, i would be able to hook up a wireless router easily right? I dont wanna have to pull cords through walls and crap cuz thats a pain in the ass so how much would it cost me for a decent wireless router and I would also need wireless network cards or what? Sorry im not very educated on networks being I have been acustomed to dial-up since 2nd grade hah If anyone can post a link of what i would need to buy to hook up 2 computers and a laptop to the wireless router along with a router it would be much appreciated, if not any price range or explanation of how to split the cable connection is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

JackMDS will be in here in a few seconds linking some articles about that stuff (I don't have the links or I'd do him the favor of doing so)

You'd need a wireless router, on average they run anywhere from $50-90 for 802.11b, $90-130 for 802.11g. (802.11b is maximum of 11mbps, g is 54 mbps) It only affects file transfers on your network, internet speed is the same among the B and the G. You'd also need a wireless adapter (PCI or USB for desktop, PC Card for laptop) so your wireless computer can connect to the net and your network. Depending on how far away it is from your router, you might want to go the USB route since you can position it to get greater reception.

I like the Microsoft brand of wireless network products. Other people will swear by different things though. You might just pick up whatever's cheapest.

Meritline? Never heard of it.

Since the prices are not unusually attractive I would skip it.

The Entry Level 802.11g from D-Link & Linksys is good staff.

You can find them for similar prices on sale. Next few weeks I would think there will be a lot of attractive offers on this stuff.
