I built a new machine a few ago yet I'm still using my ancient Core2 Quad machine every day because web browsing looks so horrendous on the new machine's Asus VG248QE. My old machine I have an Asus VS239 and the colors as well as viewing angle blow the VG248QE out of the water for non-gaming tasks. I really decided I have to put the old machine down because it's so over the hill and shouldn't have to run two different PCs for both gaming and browsing. Is there a way to get the best of both worlds, that is 144hz for gaming and nice crisp, clear colorful display for browsing without having to dump ~$600 on a new monitor? I guess my other option is hooking up both the IPS and gaming display to my newer machine but this seems a bit excessive as well.

[US] Mbest MB279QR144 QHD 2560x1440 144Hz AMD FreeSync 27" Gaming Monitor from Korea at $299.90 USD or $507 CDN. Has the AOU AH-VA/IPS LCD panel- Presently the fastest IPS screen on the market. 350 cd/m² brightness, 3ms (GTG), 2ms imput lag, flicker Free. Will do 165Hz. 178 view angle (not as good as the old slower Samsung PLS/IPS panel for viewing angle but good enough - I own both the Mbest and a QNIX 2710 with the PLS screen. Love them both but you can't beat that MBest for IPS Gaming and with a 98% RGB it's good enough for descent Photo Editing.

The other choice would be the PIXIO PX277 with the same AOU screen. 320 cd/m² brightness, 6ms (GTG), 3ms? input lag, NOT flicker Free but has Blue Light, 144Hz with a few more options like PIP/PBC... etc from Japan at $399.99 USD or $640 CDN.

The issue with the LG's AH/IPS LCD panel is that they can't make it run Fast.

Do NOT consider VA Panels.

I buy from Dreamseller on eBay - Very rebuttable Seller. Never had dead Pixels - One time I had to return a display that was damaged in shipping without issues.

All IPS LCD screens have some back light bleed - That's the way they work and not noticeable unless you deliberately post a total black screen.

I recommend that you stay away from 27" curved Displays. If you after 32" and over monitors I supposed a curved screen might be OK.
