$15k sport/lux and no mention of G35 Coupe?

Simple proper FR layout, cheap maintenance. Overall very solid car.

Only reason I didn't mention it is because he said hatch/wagon or large trunk. The G35 Coupe's trunk is tiny. Although there's a backseat.. and if you fold it down you can fit 4 tires in there.

Yeah, nice car. I am not the biggest fan of the looks, but the drive, comfort, and decent power make it a great vehicle to drive IMHO.

I am young and single. So i figured this would be a good time to get a car like that. I am really tempted just to drive my beater for a year or two more and try for a 98-99 viper. But I think that just might be reckless and I will probaly kill myself.

lol yes, why anyone would want to drive that abortion of a vehicle i'll never know.

I think it is a sharp looking car and a hard top convertible for relatively cheap with GREAT reliability. A mercedes SL would cost way more and I would worry about reliablity. I live near the beach and have amazing weather year round and want a convertible. I think this is the best car for the price in its class.

I read these forums a lot and I know most people love the g35. I don't think it is all that great. I was never really impressed. I guess I see too many of them where I live. Its just a difference of opinion.

Kind of like the Vette vs Viper debate. I would always take the viper for the curb appeal and just raw power it has. There is no doubt that the vette is bettering handling, provides a smoother ride, but when I look at a vette even the Zr1 which there are a ton of here in Jupiter, I don't see a supercar. To me there is no difference between a vette and mustang/camaro based on curb appeal.

It comes down to what your priorities in a vehicle are. Clearly your priorities are more toward reliability, comfort, and appearances. I myself (and likely PhoKingGuy) would more likely purchase the car that we feel handles better. Nothing wrong with your decision other than that it doesn't match our priorities in a car. I would buy a Miata, S2000, or vette convertible 1000x times over the SC 430. And I understand the appeal of a convertible...I live less than 2 miles from the beach in south FL as well.

Although the SC430 is a great car, it would not even fall under the "sporty" category in my book. I'm surprised you didn't suggest a Lexus IS350, which is what Lexus, themselves, markets as a sports luxury vehicle.

The G35 is great because it fits the budget and it is "sporty" and has the Infinity luxury moniker.
