Pujols to the DL

Pujols has been my favorite player since he came in 2001.

This is the one thing that COULDN"T happen. For those other sports guru's, you know how devastating a blow this is.

I seriously hope it is less than 6 weeks....a LOT less.

Even more so since Edmonds is going to the DL as well. The only 2 people on the team that are really All-Star worthy now are Eckstein and Rolen. Rolen still has some pop to his bat, but both of them are mostly line drive hitters (Bloop hits for Eck).

Probably not, but maybe the Cubs can put together a little run here before DLee gets back and make some kind of run (wishful thinking, I know).

If we played the Cardinals all year we'd win the WS. We can consistently beat them, but no one else.

Yeah I still cant understand that. The cards beat win almost every other series, yet when we play the cubs, they are suddenly transformed into an All-Star squad and we are like the present day KC Royals. EVERY TIME!

So agravating.

This really stinks. Pujols had a legitimate shot at winning the triple crown and breaking both records. His accomplishments off the field speak volumes. He is going to be sorely missed.

Edit: Reading through that, I realize it is starting to hit me. I sort of make it seem like he died or something. If that would happen I think i would seriously break something; hell if that happened i think the world might split in 2.

Thats brutal for the Cards. Without Pujols the Cards are nothing special at all so now the Astros, Brewers and even the Cubbies with Lee coming back soon can take advantage of a Pujols-less Cardinals.

Um hardly. We still have 4 maybe 5 other potential all-stars. Pujols carries this team, but not nearly to that extent (Half the line-up is hitting over .300)

To sports fans it is. Pujols, a nice and humble guy who is mot likely not on steroids, was having a career year that overshadowed even any barry bonds #2 HR stuff. He was on pace to get the "triple crown" of baseball and to set the HR record. It would have been a historic year possibly if not for this. And being that he is a nice guy, now we have to go back to hearing about the exploits of morons and jerks and the nice guy finishes last again.

Please stop referencing the cubs. Every team has inuries the good teams don't self-destruct. Pujols said he heard a "pop" when he was reaching up for the foul ball. He probably pulled/strained his oblique. I dont think that'll keep Pujols down for too long.
ps for the record im a die hard cubs fan and they need to back the truck up

With Pujols they're a .600 team, without him they're closer to .500. So they're definitely going to lose some games in the standings, but it won't be a freefall either.

The team needs outfield firepower in a bad way. Just saw Edmonds is starting at 1B today, but with his list of injuries I'm skeptical about his ability to be a big offensive threat this year.

Look at the bright side... Nobody is going to hurl steroid accusations at him for hitting 80 HRs.

Marquis is getting roughed up right now. He can't find the strike zone and the Cubs are hitting all over him. His control has been a problem his last few starts.

RIght now before it is said again, do not bring Steroids into this thread. There is absolutely no reason to believe Pujols is on steroids, and is an insult to say so.

I just sat down to watch the game. Rolen and Encarnacion are picking up some slack now. It is going to be weird without Pujols in the lineup

ESPN just released a story saying the Pujols is on the 15-Day DL. So it may be a little while.

I apologize. I respect Pujols bigtime. He has one of the greatest swings of alltime, if not THE. He's awesome. Theres always a possibility tho. I missed the news, that sucks 15 days is no joke. Maybe its extra time to let his back heal up too.

That's why being on pace to set a record means nothing until the last month of the season. I was getting tired of all the record talk since it was only May/the first week of June. In addition torpid, he is no where close to winning the triple crown (he's only hitting .308 so far, while the leader in the NL is at .357).

That said, Pujols is the man. Hopefully he gets back quickly.
