Spotted on sale: 1GB NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT as an option on the HP d5000t and d5000z desktop systems

I went to configure out an HP d5000t desktop system this afternoon, and was shocked to find the 1GB NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT as a $100 option. w00t!!!!! Now I am extremely tempted to pull the trigger on this computer.


Anyone else out there offering the new generation of video cards yet?

That isn't next gen you know. Next gen cards from nVidia are the gtx 280 and 260, coming out next week and who knows when for the 260. That's just a G92 core card with way more memory than it can possibly need. Not bad for $100 though.

So it's basically a rebadged 8800GT w/ 1GB of memory and a slightly tweaked speeds? I wonder if it's using 1GB of GDDR3 or they went with slower GDDR2 memory.
