serious though, i have seen many Fancy, expensive, one of a kind cars. years of going to car shows all over the country with my father, a real car guy, who knows every nut and bolt in them, who knows the correct shene for the paint on a bracket, or the correct marking on the bolt head for the core support... etc...

Cool and fancy/expensive are not related in my book.

it is all about emotion, and in our world today money seems to mean emotion to people. a "cool" car to me is seeing someone's old chevy pickup that they have poured their heart and soul into and driven for 40 years. they still have a huge grin on their face every time they have to adjust the carb, or use ether to start it and they are completely satisfied with it, they love their truck/car/motorcycle/thing with wheel(s)

I cant imagine my father being any happier when he's driving his own completely restored by him (and me) 72 chevy pickup or 71 chevelle. i cant imagine why you need to upgrade your Ferrari every 2 years to look "cool" if you find your car, good for you, its something most people can't understand. just like a woman, there is a car out there for everyone, you just have to find it. I could only be happier with my own 86 TransAm if it ran all the time. I cant imagine smiling anymore in a new GT-R.

the automobile should be about how you feel behind the wheel, how connected with the car itself you are, how well you know things like: pushing the pedals in just the right way to down shift your auto, or knowing exactly how much force it takes to break the tires loose on a corner or knowing how much roll can be sustained before bottoming out the sway-bars.

with that, the coolest cars i remember:
GM turbine car prototypes
192? hupmobile street rod
my fathers chevelle, i dare say the most original, correct chevelle in the country
90's zr1 corvette's and the subtle differences, like being about 6in wider than base models.

Saw a nice looking MB CL65 AMG. I see a lot of expensive cars on my way home that I tend not to notice unless I'm stopped behind one at a light.

I left the definition entirely up to you. What stands out to you, what makes you go wow? What makes your heart melt? What car do you think looks spot on even if its not expensive or not a luxury car?

My own car (Accord) makes me happy everytime I see what I have done with it.

Saw 3 Ferrari F430's parked in a row and a gaggle of Maserati's parked in the next row as I drove to lunch yesterday.

What pedals are you pushing in to downshift your auto?

Why would you even bother downshifting an auto unless you are going down a steep grade?

I love my motorcycle...but it isn't my ideal bike and I will probably get something else in a year or so. My car is a conveyance...nothing more. I like it but it doesn't do much for me other than provide good reliable transportation.

Honestly, I'd be perfectly happy with a Ducati Monster and a Lotus Elise in my garage. Two vehicles that aren't overly expensive but they really stir something in me. Both are performance machines with style and they are unique in that not everyone has one.

In an auto, when you push the gas pedal hard enough the transmission down shifts to provide more torque to the wheels. People who are used to their cars know how far to push the gas pedal to get it to down shift on it's own. Amazing what technology can do.

He said pedals...as in plural. So, since an auto has only a gas and brake pedal I'm going to assume he's pushing the gas pedal in and the brake pedal at the same time? Really, you shouldn't be on both pedals at the same time in ANY car or you're doing it wrong...unless your goal is simply to do smokey burnouts.

I passed an F-650 on the highway a few months ago. I did a double take when I was along side of it and realized how huge it was.

Despite this being "rich bitch" Connecticut, I'm on the eastern side so I don't see much for exotic cars. Plenty of Mustangs (Saleen, Roush, Cobras), Corvettes, a few new Camaros, Supras, an occasional M3 or M5, and stuff like that. Even the casinos, which attract people from way out of state, are usually limited to those "upper middle class" cars.

I have seen several Lambos, Ferraris, one or two Ford GTs, and other high-class / rare cars occasionally, but it's usually only when a big car show comes around. Around here, everyone seems to admire less worthy cars, like a Civic Del Sol with a shiny paint job, gaudy rims, and huge chrome exhaust tips. If you put that side by side with an '03 Cobra at a gas station, the Civic would get all the attention.

SW22 MR2 Turbo. I know a lot about them but never actually ever see them, so I was slowing down and staring quite a bit.

I see a 911 GT2 every day at work, but just cause its always parked next door. The nicest car I saw this morning on my 50m drive to work was a Hi-Po charger. My area isn't exactly full of nice cars

Although I have seen a GTR, Maserati Quattroporte, and what I think was a Ferrari 328 targa

Lifted 4WD Ford Excursion. 38" tires, wheels with bead locks, redone turbo on the 7.3L diesel putting out around 580 HP and 750 lb. ft. torque. Awesome truck.

You most likely mean 396.

Despite my 60mile roundtrip commute to work everyday, it's usually littered with suvs, hybrids, & nothing special BMWs (325's, 525s, etc) and Audi's (A4's & A6's).

I saw a BMW Z8 at a local Greek restaurant in a strip mall a while back. You don't see a ton of those running around. I see R8s more and more often.

This summer I visited the Santana Row (very high-end) shopping area in San Jose. I saw a ludicrous number of high end cars down there.
Notables: a Bentley Continental GT, a Maserati Quattroporte, a 360 Modena, and a DB9 (so hot). Exotic or near-exotic cars seemed to be commonplace, as locals probably know. A car like a 911 Turbo or an M5 would barely elicit a second look except from out-of-towners like me. I felt awesome in my rented Santa Fe.
