Spring allergies

Anyone else having a rough time lately?

I always get really bad allergies around this time of the year. Itchy/watery eyes, stuffy/runny nose, itchy throat. I take 3 different meds usually: prescription eye drops, prescription nasal spay, and OTC (formerly prescription) oral meds. Nothing really seems to be working this year. Supposed to put a drop in each eye up to twice a day - already had at least 6 today. 2 "shots" of nasal spray in each nostril twice a day - already had 8. OTC med, Allegra, once a day - already took 3. Even added Zyrtec as a "booster".

Still wanna rip my eyes out. Fuck me.

I think it's tree pollen that I'm allergic to.

Been so bad here in indiana that I know of 4 people who had to be hospitalized because of ashtma. Two were kids who never presented before.


I have had a sinus headache for what feels like 4 weeks. The rain has bumped the mold count as well.

It's not that great. I had that bad last year, and I was doing a lot of ladder work. I also cracked my head hard a couple times by looking up, and then hitting it on low objects I was standing near. It's a really bizarre feeling. I never went to the doctor, but my guess is a fluid issue in my ears. They didn't hurt or anything, but it makes sense with the nose issues. It's all connected.

there is a shot (ass shot i believe) that knocks allergies down HARD and it lasts for many weeks (maybe a month and a half...i don't know for sure). anyway, i know somwone who has bad allergies and those shots work wonders.

i usually never have problems, but these last two weeks in wisconsin have been brutal. i cannot keep a contact in my right eye for the life of me... i have flu symptoms without a fever.... just sucks. i felt better today, but i still cant keep my contact in. thank god my left eye is working.

I have had some bad allergies in the last couple of years. Allegra and sudafed work wel for my congestion. Sometime my eyes need a bit more so I do eye drops with tetrahydrozoline and zinc sulfate. That makes them feel a bit too dry but it is soooooo much better than without. I always wash my eyes first otherwise the drops sometimes get more shit in there and it burns for a while. Might be worth a shot

Don't use too much nasal spray, you can become addicted to it, and worse, it will eat a hole through your nasal passages if you use it too often. No thanks.

One thing I'm doing differently this year, I started taking Claritin early, like February. Building that shit up. And I also picked up a netty pot. All that pollen crap gets built up inside your nose and just prolongs the agony into the next day, even if it's raining and zero pollen count the next day. Netty pot gets that stuff out of there so you can start over clean.

He would have to do 10-20 times that for any likelihood of liver damage, at least for the ones he listed.
They aren't like painkillers where the stated max dose is due to toxicity.

Kind of. It is a prescription-only 3rd gen antihistamine. I've never taken anything so effective and I've tried Claritin (1st gen) and Zyrtec (2nd gen) for years. Only costs me $5 a month and worth every penny. I saw my allergy doc last year after a long break from him (had shots when I was younger). He prescribed this stuff and I am a believer. Its the only thing that can really knock out serious seasonal allergies, and I am in a rough city for pollen.

Yeah I read on Wikipedia that with Allegra, studies of 110x the max recommend adult dose caused no death in rats or something like that.

I've never found anything that's effective other than meds. Plus the ones I take are "non-drowsy" and don't impair me in any way. Not like Benedryl, which could put an elephant to sleep.
