I had a bit of surgery last week and since then have really only had the energy to go to work,I just basically sleep and eat after work.Hopefully I'll feel more recovered this week and better able to exercise.

I don't weigh even close to 125 lbs, but I look damn good. Its all about how you look and feel, not some magic number on the scale. I don't want to be some skinny string bean, I like the fact that I could kick a mans ass if need be. But seriously, why feed into the medias perception of whats hot, and what everyone should be? I don't want to be some skinny girl with my ribs sticking out, I like the fact that I have curves to show off. I don't need to be a clothing hanger to feel good about myself, and neither should you lady, you are beautiful.

The nice thing about all this is that each of us can decide for ourselves what we think constitutes beauty. If you are happy with yourself and your appearance that rocks.I don't think today's models could in any way be described as skinny string beans,I happen to like the look, different strokes for different folks

On the good news side, there's a hiuge bike rack at work and shower facilties available for workers.I'll be able to bike in and back on good days over the summer,it'll be awesome exercise and probably really relaxing too

Getting all hung up over what is the standard for the fashion snd the entertainment industry is stupid. Quality of life has to be taken into consideration. Sure if you are going to make big bucks looking like a Model then constant dieting and busting your ass exercising is warranted. But if you aren't then there's no reason in the world to suffer through the BS these anorexic waifs you see on Magazine Covers and TV have to deal withy, especially if you aren't 20 years old.

Look around, how many men do you seer that look like Arnold or even are built like Brad Pitt? A few that are usually are under 25 but most aren't and a good portion of them (especially Geeks) are fat Porkers. For the most part they are more interested in their quality of life than they are fitting into a tight pair of Designer Jeans (Hence the Baggy Jean Style for young men)

Being Healthy doesn't mean being at the same wieght you were at 16 or 21. It sure isn't worth constant dieting and busting your are at the gym. Sure exercise and a healthy diet is optimal and should be followed by all no matter what age. But these puked breathed Bitches you see on the Runways really aren't as sexy to men as you would think, especially after they open their vapid mouths.

well! Getting this thread back on track!

I stuck my head out the window (literally) yesterday and realized that it was nice outside again! So this morning I was up and running 2 miles followed by some pushups and other upper body exercises. Tonight I'll be doing a full body workout at home.

I plan on repeating this as long as I can until I find the musle under the fat!

Oh, I've also cut back on my eating. I've gone from eating out everyday for all 3 meals to having 2 pancakes in the morning, fruit for lunch and some sort of meat product for dinner. Don't know how many calories that is but it should help greatly.

Bingo. You don't have to allow your ideas of what makes you beautiful be shaped by vain magazines and runway models, if you exude confidence with your body it has more sensual an effect on the opposite sex, IMHO.

cool, I was just gonna ask if anyone is training for any particular event. As luck would have it, I am also gearing up for a "mini" triatholon (well, a sprint distance one). I think the sprint distance is closer to:

3.5 Miles running
20 Miles biking
1/2 mile swimming (might be 1/4 mile).

Where is you tri? I am looking for one in the NYC area.

I just think you should be happy with yourself too. You are beautiful, and in great shape, you look fabulous. You have a fantastic personality, and you are quite a catch. Exercise is awesome, I'm not saying don't do it, God knows I do all the time too. But as far as beauty goes, you already have that by far.

I agree. I guess my point is that the "look how you want to look and be happy with it" point of view is not what the average woman is subjected to by the media and everything else. Your point that each individual is ultimately responsible for what goes in their mouth is well taken but I feel like women are so bombarded with perfection that they often just give up totally instead of having realistic goals to shoot for.

Take it from someone who commutes by bike every day; it's great. You'll have the occasional brush with idiot drivers, but mostly you'll get to work nice and relaxed (and awake!). I'll sometimes wuss out and drive and I'm sorry I did as soon as I get stuck in the first patch of gridlock.

I would love to bike to work every day. Unfortunately, there aren't any paths or trails from my house to place of employment. There are only busy streets and intersections. How far do you bike every day, Fausto? It'd probably take me an hour or so each way by bike.

It's about 8 miles each way, which takes me roughly 30 minutes (depending on how I hit the lights) at my usual pace. There are shorter routes, but I chose this one specifically for minimal traffic. I can deal with heavy traffic if need be, but I'd rather just pedal a few extra miles and not have to worry about it.

EDIT- I see you're in C Springs. Do you guys have all the bike lanes/paths like Denver does? How far are you from work?

We do have a bunch of bike paths, but they go towards the mountains, not south. I live on the north side of springs, and I work downtown, so I would have to head south. The one bad thing about Springs is that there really aren't any bike paths on the roads. There are a few on side streets, but the infrastructure around here wasn't designed to handle the amount of auto growth we've seen in the last ten years, let alone bicycles.

I wouldn't bother. They won't help with your main adversary (cars), plus they'll drive you crazy when it's warmer out. I would recommend cycling gloves tho since the first thing that you'll skin in a fall are your hands. This hurts a LOT....trust me. A nice pair of cycling shorts are your best friend as well.

Check out Performance Bike.com. Their "house-brand" women's-specific cycling clothing is pretty nice stuff and not absurdly expensive either.

"I don't need to exercise, I have the body of a God, and that God is Buddha." (Yes, I now, technically Buddha isn't a God, but just work with me)

or, if you prefer "I'm in shape, round is a shape."

Really though, now that's it's spring I'm going to work out more. I lifted weights since last spring, but I seem to be at the limit of how strong I'm going to get without taking drugs or working out 5 hours a day, and I didn't burn off any weight. So now I'm doing some biking (some nice trails around campus) with just some pushup and situps. I've decided cardio workouts are the way to go for me, weight training just doesn't seem to work, I have too muscular of a frame to begin with. This way I can stay strong but also burn off some of that excess beer...uh, I mean fat

I would invest in a pair of padded gloves, My hands used to kill me after a couple miles of biking and padded gloves really help make biking more enjoyable.

That's pretty much Atlanta in a nutshell....except for the bike lanes bit. We don't really have any of those.

If I were you, I'd get a detailed map of your area and try to find creative ways to connect your home with your office. My route to work takes me through several residential areas and two parks closed to cars. Like I said, it's longer but it's far safer and I don't arrive at work all pissed off after dealing with angry motorists.

I'll take a look. I need to get my bike out of the back of the garage and serviced, too.
