hey civilicious, I also had an existing text plan but I just went and they did it without any problem. You will also get credit on this current bill period.

Just log into the Sprint website, use the contact form, and ask for free text messages. Worked for me, and probably a thousand others at numerous Sprint-user websites. I ended up with 500 texts/month for free for the life of my account just for asking, no promo needed.

I exactly did that. I emailed them requesting free txt messaging and a day later I got it, i.e. on 02/25. Its really crazy to hand out free txt messaging to anyone who asks for it.

Did you just say "Hi I was wondering if I could get free text messages, thanks!", or did you add more BS?

I emailed ecare several times and called CS/retentions the first month I had my SERO plan and they all said that they couldnt add perks to my plan since it was already a discount plan (which is bs since alot of others were able to get it added).

I tried again with this deal since the guys in the store were clueless and they gave me 500free/mo for a year.

Here is the email:

Dear Sir,

Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I appreciate you
taking the time out of your busy day to write to us. I will be more
than happy to assist you today,
regarding your text message request.

Adding Feature to Account:
*********************
I have added the 500 Text Message Feature to your account for no cost
for 1 year instead of the 300 text messages. From February 24th 2007 to
February 24th 2008. From now until the start of your next billing
cycle, March 11th, you will have 250 Messages available to use. Then on
march 12th 7th you will have the full 500 text message to use. Text
Messages sent or received outside of your plan are charged at $0.15 per
message, and International Text Messages are not covered under your text
message feature unfortunately.

Plan & Phone Information:
********************
To add your wife to your account and have her on the SERO Plan you will
need to apply on our web site: www.sprint.com/sero. To take advantage
of the $99 Moto Q phone. you can do this by purchasing the Moto Q from
our website, see link below:
http://www1.sprintpcs.com/explore/Phone...Phones.jsp?ATR_ExtraOne=UHP_PCS_Phones

If you have any other qestions please contact us.

Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. We value your
business. Have a wonderful day!

Original Message Follows:
------------------------
Hello,

I am an existing Sprint Customer and saw a promotion for 300 free
text messages a month for a year for college students on your website
here:

http://www.sprintenterprise.com/college...id9=Ad_collegered_v1_features_facebook

It says it is valid for any Sprint phone and doesnt say anything
about opening new lines. I went into my local store as the site directs me
to and they said they had not recieved the promo yet and would have to
call thier store manager. Is there a way you can add this to my plan
so I do not have to spend another 45minutes to go to the store and see
if they can access it?

Also, am I eligible to add a new line to my service for my wife? I
read that I could, even on the SERO plan, and I may like to take
advantage of this with the new Moto Q for $99 offer.

Thank you,

Thanks Eirgorn! I had tried 3-4 times for the free text messaging option on my SERO plan without success. Your text somehow did the trick. I now have 500 free text messages!!!

I have the 500 free text messages for the life of the account on all 3 of my lines. Use the ecare (email form on sprint's website) instead of calling sprint or going to the sprint store. The ecare seems to be the best bet in my experience.

If you don't get the free 500 free text messages from the first customer service rep, keep trying. The first rep that I contacted wouldn't return my email after asking him about the free text messages. The second one that I got an email from agreed to give me the 500 texts, but just for one line. I tried emailing the person again that wasn't returning my emails from my first contact and ended up getting another csr that gladly added 500 texts to all my lines. She said that she added it to two lines and went add it to my third line, but I already had it on that line (Doh!) It's amazing how different each rep is. One rep ignores me, one gives me a little and the other says, "Sure, no problem.." Just keep in mind that if you don't get what you want from the first rep, keep trying with different reps until you do.

FYI.. A bargaining chip that you could use is say that you were offered the deal for $8 for unlimited texting (a great deal on its own), but you didn't really need unlimited, so you turned it down. Tell them that the 500 texts for free would be perfect for your texting usage. Or.. Just go for the $8 unlimited texting if you want. Just tell them that you turned it down last time, but would like to sign up for it now. It's a lot better than paying $15 a month for unlimited texting if you need unlimited texting.

Yay I got the 500 text/mo added for free for what I presume is the life of the account! I just e-mailed, said I loved the service but didn't text much because of the cost, and what could they do.
