Anyone know anything about the Verizon deal with 2500 minutes and a free phone? I saw a commercial, but the fact that I needed a cell phone didn't hit me until after the commercial was over... hehe... From what I can remember:

Verizon Wireless
Free Phone, audiovox I believe.
2500 minutes, not sure how it's distributed, but I am guessing 2250 nonpeak, 250 peak
5 State coverage? Not sure, what they meant by that.
$24.99 for the first three months, $34.99 thereafter.

Probably with typical PCS perks, like messanging, 3way, forwarding, blah blah...

If anyone knows anything else, please post !

JUst so you know- this sprint deal works for exisiting BUSINESS customers, too! I just got switched... This is a big deal because previous sprint deals requiring year-long committments were only available to me if I paid $200 to get out of my previous plan (which was the difference in cost between what I paid for my phone and what Sprint thinks it's worth)

I just got to say that in Fresno, CA, sprint sucks! Every time I try to phone people who have their service, I get "Sorry, all circuts are busy, please try your call again later". Additionally, the people who have their service say that it is very hard to get a call to go out, as the system is overloaded here, and if the call goes thru, it usually drops. This is a great deal to me, and I have Verizon at a very expensive rate, and I would love to switch, and in fact, I had purchased their phones at BestBuy, and while I was going out the door and the security guy was checking my receipt, he told me I might want to reconsider, as he has Sprint, and they were just awful.

After reading 20,000 (exagerated number) posts on crappy Sprint Service, I felt it was necessary to point out the obvious. Sprint will not always have the best service everywhere for everyone. Just as with analog phone networks when they first arrived, there was not seemless, totally perfect coverage across the US...there still isn't. Check out the maps. If you area seems sketchy, choose somebody else, aka Verizon. As with everything that is good and gold, mileage may vary. This is true with everything in life. Thread started out great, then turned a little bitter (just my observation).

I also have a Sprint contract, but my phone (the Nokia 6185) sucks. I'm reading lots of recommendations on the Samsung phones (3500, 8500). Has anyone tried the new Samsung MP3 phone? What about the Motorola V Series?

Your suggestions are appreciated

They changed the rules, now you have to sign up the advantage Agreement, but then you can't choose from those options like wireless web....

Samsung mp3 phone seems meaningless but I haven't tried it. Morotola V series is only single band, but otherwise is a great phone. I would say the 8500 has the best features and design, you'll love it! Except the antenna kinda sucks.

I feel the antenna is ok for 8500, just ordered one. know what, although now when you choose the options, you can only and have to select the advantage agreement and the *1500 mins option, but before choose the phone, you still can take out the advantage agreement with the *1500 mins option(weird), and finally come with ONLY a "$34.99 1500 mins plan".

So I still got 1500 mins, do I?

the point is, maybe sometime later I can call the rep say I wanna enroll the advantage agreement....mm, can I get a free option now?

hehe, here it is the receipt I received this morning:
Items in this order:

Plans and Options:
- Plan SKU: WDC_CC_CH250
- Plan Zip Code: 22030
- Plan MRC: $34.99
- Plan Base Minutes: *1500
- Cost per additional Minute: 35 cents
- Plan Level (Free & Clear, Local, Prepaid): Clear Commitment Customer
- Sprint PCS Advantage Agreement: No
- FREELD_CC: Free

Phones:
1 - SCH8500SHS Samsung SCH-8500

NO advantage Agreement and a *1500 plan base minutes

So is there anybody really get the 250anytime + 1250 offpeak, + longdistance + 1yr agreement+wireless web?

They will not give me the 1250 offpeak mins because I didn't sign the 1 yr agreement, although on the printout receipt and the email they sent me, it was all listed *1500 mins plan base time and there is not word says I have to sign the agreement.... The rep just told me that maybe it is because the receipt is not precise on the word, but I have to sign the agreement to get the 1250 offpeak time.

Make sure you switch on the LAST DAY of your billing cycle (AKA THE LAST DAY BEFORE YOU RESET YOUR MINUTES). The deal will take effect on the 1st day of your new cycle. I spent 1 hour on the phone with 2 CSRs to get my account to change on the first day of the new cycle. LEARN FROM MY MISFORTUNE!

Sorry to dredge this thread up but I got my bill for the last month and they charged me the $34.99 price already. I emailed them about it and they charge one month in advance. I don't get it. I don't remember them charging me one month in advance when I first started using sprint. Did everyone else get billed the $34.99 rate also?

Sprint really pisses me off sometimes. Make that all the time.

Just to confirm a couple of things:

1. Sprint does charge one month in advance.

2. Sprint CSR's are morons.

3. Sprint digital coverage is not free and clear. It is spotty at best. I lose calls regularly. At other times my reception is poor to absolutely terrible. And sometimes, the Sprint service just tells my callers that the line is not in service (sometimes I get that message when trying to check my email).

4. The one and only reason I keep it is that it does still seem to be cheaper and my phone is paid for. Just keep in mind that you have to average in a lot of inconvenience and frustration.

I just got 2 phones, and service of 4,000 minutes per month, for 69.99 a month thru VoiceStream. And the phones were free. It was a corporate plan.

Well, I got in under this plan a month ago.
Since it was the day after thanksgiving they gave me an extra 500 minutes a month (off peak).
I've been having a great time with it. in the baltimore area, i was 3 stories below ground before it lost signal.

and i mean, 2000 minutes for 35$, you can't exactly complain TOO much.
