Sprint PCS 500 extra minutes a month(cell to cell) @ Best Buy

I was in Best Buy last night and they had a new Sprint PCS promo. If you signed up for the 2500/ $39.99 a month plan with 350 anytime 2150 night and weekends (nationwide long distance) and a ONE year agreement you get 6000 bonus (*CELL TO CELL*) ANYTIME minutes. It said 500 minutes a month. It said it ended Oct 6, 2001.
I couldn't find anything to link this to though so I guess you have to go to their store.

it looks national... I checked a couple different areas' flyer... you can check by looking at your area's flyer... I believe its around page 18 or so

I called two local Best Buy B&M's here in Portland, Oregon they believe this is nationwide. My advice to you guys is why not call your local Best Buy and ask them yourself? To skip through the automated menu's press 3 then press 7 which should bring you to their cell phone department.

At first I thought thecrews said 6,000 cell to cell minutes per month but that's over the course of one year.

If you're like me, use the cell phone during the week a lot, don't call long distance that much and don't roam here's an even better deal.

2,000 weekend minutes (not nationwide free long distance)

Unfortunately with this plan VoiceStream puts in super tiny print that the first incoming minute for free is NOT a feature of this rate plan. So if someone calls and hangs up or says "wrong number" then hangs up you are charged for 1 minute

Depending on your needs, both plans offer competitive prices for a whole lotta minutes.

Actually this has been discussed in the UseNet NewsGroup alt.cellular.gsm.carriers.voicestream. I briefly glanced over the 33 posts and the majority of them said VoiceStream hired some engineers and intends to launch a new tower in Rochester in 6 months, that was posted May 2001. So that puts it about 2-3 months away sometime in November, probably closer to December.

The Sprint PCS plans look appealing but VoiceStream has always been my favorite since I rarely make long distance calls and hardly ever roam. Without a doubt they offer the most bang for your buck. You should check out MyVoiceStream.com pretty cool everything you can do from the web site.

I live in Seattle, and signed up with voicestream last october, for 600 anytime/1000 weekend for $40/month. over the course of my contract i've had nothing but problems with their customer service and billing reps. i've experienced several short, but annoying outages (averaging one night per month at least). in dealing with several service as well as billing issues, i've never gotten a straight answer from their reps. of course, your experiences may vary.

with my contract up in a month or so, i'm looking forward to escaping their tyranny I've heard good things about sprint. free roaming and long distance are good incentives for me. this might just be the deal to jump on.

Sprint PCS suxs, as well as Best Buy's bullshit. Sprint PCS was the only cellular that went out for 3 days during the Houston flood when it was most needed in an emergency, and they frequently go of out service, or drop calls from time to time. I was suppose to get $100 rebate check from them for buying 2 Samsung phones for a New Years holiday promo, and I get a letter 6 months later saying, "Oh, you rebate form doesn't not meets some criteria, so you will not be recieving it" and stuff. Only the free LD, phone selections and low service charge is barely hanging on a string with them. So I'd say watch out. Some areas may be good, but for sure Houston definitely not it.
