Sprint PCS Modem Service

This is for all of you who recieved a free sprint PCS modem a while back. The reason this could be a hot deal is that my 2 month trail period has already ended (by a week). And while my modem cannot connect enhanced internet (no answer error) it will still work on standard internet. Does anyone out there have one of these modems and still have service? If Sprint accidently overlooks these for a while free internet access is about as hot as it gets. Anyone have info on this topic?

I dissagree that its worthless....

I use the modem on my IPAQ and Microsoft Messenger, Yahoo Messenger and POP3 email work flawlessly. Just set email to drop attachments. Also, browsing mobile enhanced sites is very useable. It's very slow opening standard internet sites, but that also depends on the site content. Anything with graphics is extremely slow but what do you expect.

AvantGo online is excellent for most news and general info and services.

Its all what you make it. Personally, i can't wait to be using this on my boat next summer. I can still keep in touch as well as download all the weather reports.

I've been using my modem for a little over a month now. It's a bit slow for internet surfing, but more than adequate for e-mail...especially when you don't have a line connection convenient. It's been a God send for me while waiting for my flights at the airport...

Anyone out there receive a bill yet? I got one about a week ago but it was for $0.00

I don't consider it worthless at all- wireless surfing/email/vpn via iPAQ is a Godsend! The enhanced/bluekite version is ok, but I prefer using the standard connection with Karl's compression server:

Here are the steps
1: Open PIE
2: Tap Tools-Options
3: Go to the Connections Tab
4: Enable "Use proxy Server"
5: In the Address Box type proxy2.iddgroup.net
6: In the Port Box type 9666

Can be used on PCs as well- now the connection seems more like a 56k+ link.

I too received a bill for $0 a week or so ago- that's all, no calls, no spam, just the way I like it!
