SprintPCS Current Deals Question

Has anyone tried using the retention deals lately? I noticed the old thread is pretty much defunct now.

I haven't used retention in about 2 years now, because I was satisified with what I got. Now Vision's on a 1 year anniversary and I like some of the new PCS Vision phones and felt it was time to upgrade. Can anyone who has called in tell me what deals they are offering with PCS Vision included?

My current plan is:
500 Anytime
3000 Night/Weekends
8 PM Start
$34.99

I'm looking for something similar but with PCS Vision & possibly PCS-to-PCS within that price range. It has been 2 years, so I'm sure I can get a similar plan.

I don't know what plans they're offering now but I am dealing with retention this week because my Vision phone (LG5350) refuses to do a pc connection and they're bending over backwards to send me new phones and to make me happy. I think the general attitude is still to keep good customers around.

I'd also be aware that they're charging extra for Vision plans being offered now. I got a tech the other day who told me that they're trying to discourage grandfathering any old plans that include Vision.

My GF tried to recently, but didn't have much luck even just getting a phone credit, but then again she was very nervous and never really wanted to say she would cancel.

When and how did you manage that Hawaiian Kine?

Was your contract up? I'm guessing so by the credit. My contract's been up for a while and I want to shoot for something like what you got. What exactly did you say to obtain that?

So far my plan is to say that I want a new phone and other companies are offering them PLUS Sprint's service sucks(which it actually does) and that my old phone's *2 didn't work for like 6 months and none of the idiots could figure out how to fix it(which they couldn't) and now it crashes(it's a palm too lol). Maybe I'll bitch about how shitey their service was for a $500 phone(I didn't pay $500 but that used to be the retail).

Hopefully that will work.

Sprint raised their prices and did away with free unlimited PCS for some plans around the middle of last month . Shame on them .

TekDemon,

Do you have a Treo 300? I had issues with mine after upgrading the firmware and I brought it into the stores to have it looked at. I had signed up about 3 months ago to their insurance at $4 a month. They took my phone and did a test and it failed, so I got a refurb, which seems like it's brand new. Also, the hinge works much better and the firmware was already upgraded. That was a good exchange.

Dumb question... do you need a Vision plan in order to use custom ringers? For instance, with the Sanyo 6400, you can connect it to your PC to download MIDI ringtones to the phone. I'm assuming when Sprint mentions Ringtones in the same sentence as Vision, they mean you get to download ringtones from the Sprint site if you get the vision plan?

To get the hundred dollar credit i told them that i wanted to get a new phone. To get my plan i just asked what they could do for me, if they could offer me a better plan. I have a 300 min plan with 150 and 120 extra mins added on to it. Just keep asking and see what they can do.

Uh, I don't think you got THAT plan 2 years ago! They just started that plan a little over year ago, I know because I've been on it that long. You must have changed plans somewhere along the way or your a little confused about it being 2 years.

i dont know the minute count on my current plan, but my nights start at 6 pm and i have free weekends. Ive been with sprint for a while and i was wondering how i go about getting more perks (as if 6pm nites isnt good enough heh) like a new phone.

I dont want to call in and threaten to cancel, because from what my friends tell me my extremely early nights is awesome and sprint might jump at the opportunity to cancel my plan. Or they might want to keep a loyal customer like me , which is what i am hoping for.

Given my cell phone situation, is it feasible that i can negotiate for a new phone? I was using a really crappy samsung phone until a few months ago, got an a500, and the screen cracked last week so i need a new phone. I was actually hoping to get a PDA phone and recieve some type of rebate/discount due to my extended customer status... or recieve a mid-level phone (~$200ish) for really cheap. Do you think that i could pull it off, or will sprint use this opportunity to cancel my plan?

just got 1000/3000 unlimited pcs-pcs for $50. Also got $50 off next bill and $100 credit towards another phone. Both my GF and I got that tonight after whining, wheeling and dealing. Her clamshell Samsung died (under warranty) so we went to a Sprint store, they were more interested in their stereo than the customers (rush and division in chicago) and told us to goto another store (180 N lasalle) whereupon the sprint rep said no its not under warranty, sorry... called the insuarance company that sprint utilizes and the rep said theyd be happy to send out a new phone but it would cost $35 AND that her replacement policy would be cancelled. We then asked well, isnt it under warranty? He said yes it is, just talk to sprint and theyll give you a replacement... I then ask him why didnt he offer that in the first place instead of offering to take our money and cancel the policy. He said, uh, I'm sorry. Back to present: called Sprint retention DIRECTLY after talking w/that thief/liar/imbecile and waded thru two helpers before they turned into yes men and gave us what we wanted. All I have to say is document your problems i.e. who when and what you talked about and it will get you much further with them.
Her replacement phone is a Sanyo 4900 (no more Samsung in this house.) I've yet to choose my replacement (my current is a kyocera 6035 palm phone.)

Damnit... my contract is about to end in a week or so, and all I was able to get was:

$30/mo
300 any
either 3000 or unlimited night&weekend (8PM) (I couldn't hear cuz the reception kept cutting out)
$50 service credit towards a new phone

What gives? Its better than the other times I called, when I was offered 600 mins, blah blah blah for $50. My current plan is:

$36/mo
500 any
3000 night&weekend (8PM)

I don't know if I've properly accepted the new contract cuz they put me back into the automated system and I was told to enter my phone number and security code, but it kept rejecting me. I was using the security code that I use to logon to the SprintPCS site, as well as to authenticate myself when talking to the retention department. Wasn't given any new number when I supposedly agreed to the new one year contract.

Out of curiosity, is it possible to cancel within 14 days of the new plan without a fee just like when the 14-day grace period for new customers? I'd really like to get at least an extra 100 anytime minutes tacked back onto my plan with no extra charge. :-/

Any suggestions?

Oh yeah, I tried getting more service credit, but I was passed onto the rep's supervisor and she kept saying that the max she could give me is $50 and that there are phones at varying prices, and it's my choice to buy something more expensive. That was her response when I said I could get a $199 T-Mobile phone for free if I signed up for a new $30/mo 300any, 3000off-peak contract with them.

Sprint gets all their customers from spamming the world with advertising. Then people get their phones and it takes them a short while to find out that the service blows, but they're stuck with them for how ever long their contract is. By the time the contract is over they've given out their number to all their friends and don't wanna change it so they're stuck with Sprint.

that's a nice retention plan! don't forget to claim your monthly sprint pcs credits...

my retention deal last year was 600/3000 8pm nite for $30, no unlimited pcs-pcs. my wife doesn't use the phone that much so it's not a big deal. more than enough minutes for her. after taxes, with monthly credits, the bill is $13.30 each month.

I just got 2 more phones added to my account (for me and wife's sister) but couldn't get much out of retention since they're considered new lines, even though I've been with sprint for a few years. currently paying $50/mo + $20/mo add-a-phone sharing plan with 680/8pm nite/unlimited nw/unlimited pcs-pcs. took a 1 year contract instead of 2 years so I can negotiate for a better retention plan sooner. after taxes, with monthly credits, the bill is around $37 per month for both phones. not too shabby.

the $20 credits per phone each month help to ease the pain a little. occasional referral credits don't hurt either.

Hey, and if none of your tactics work, you can always use this against them to get more credits/phones/airtime.
Cell phone carrier ratings

Personally, I'm with Verizon and I'm glad i swtich from Tmobile. I can finally get a signal at work and in my basement at home. I even get a signal in the 3rd floor underground parking here at work.

I moved and want a local number but they won't give me my previous retention plan back. ($30 per month for 600 minutes, free PCS-to-PCS, at 8pm). The best they would do is $40 per month for 750 plus $5 per month for PCS-to-PCS. I tried about 4 times to see if they were just fooling with me...same story everytime.
